at least IME... it's a mix of wanting grandchildren and just continuing tradition. the world is changing though, so anyone with a problem with some women not having children can... go deal with it :) . really, i'd much rather see people who don't want children simply abstain from having them, instead of doing it because 'they're supposed to, like everyone else.'

I don't think all mothers do push their daughters to have children. But women generally love kids. It's quite simple. I think mothers also believe that their daughters will regret not having kids and feel unfulfilled if they do not do so.

I remember when I was a teenager I was watching some shitty reality show about having babies and these parents were gushing happily about their child, they were so happy. Up to this point my whole frame of reference for having children was that it involved cleaning up poo and dealing with screaming and no sleep and then eventually tantrums and "I hate you mum!" - I literally couldn't imagine how anyone could be happy in that situation.

I asked my dad and he said "why is it so surprising, they are doing the one thing that their whole live is genetically programmed to lead to, of course it makes them happy".

Mothers know that having children, though it can be heartbreaking, insanely hard and stressful - is the culmination of life and for all the pain will fulfil their daughters in a way no other experience in life can. They want that for their children, because they love them.

My mum has nagged me for about 5 years now to have babies and I know it's because she wants to share the joy that comes with it. It entails an insane level of love for another human that you can't really get any other way and I think she just wants me to experience that and so do I eventually.

Also she really want grandkids.
