If you are ashamed of it you shouldn't have done it and shouldn't do it again. Correct your behavior and live as a better person than before.

No, she shouldn't lie. When asked I don't think she should act ashamed of it either. It's better to be dumped early for it than 10 years of marriage later. Also most men don't want to know and will not ask. They are visual creatures and the idea of their women sleeping with another man make them uncomfortable.

Our marriage is strong. Doesn't this already happen? It's exactly why women tell other women to lie about partner count, though I think less to make her man happy and more to have insurance in securing commitment.

Not gonna lie, it makes total sense why women lie about partner count, and if she's playing smart in the SMP, she'd be dumb to risk securing commitment over pride about being honest.

As I've said, /u/Lonny_zone 's point needs the second condition that the manipulated person is not only happier but also not being harmed.

What he doesn't know won't hurt him, right?

This fails the second condition of harmless manipulation, since no man likes a ho for a housewife.

But yeah, lying about her partner count is very important in a woman's sexual strategy, especially when it comes to longterm-relationships.

Two points:

Most women lie about their n count.
The laws regarding divorce heavily favor women. The cost of a woman lying is much heavier.

I'm of the opinion that women shouldn't lie about their partner counts. However, I don't see that it does any significant harm, besides the harm that automatically comes with lying to a partner.

There's actually a top post in AskWomen right now asking about high partner counts and partner's reactions. I won't link it since I don't wanna cause a shitstorm, but it's pretty interesting.

Speaking only for myself, it isn't the n count that actually matters. It's all the baggage that (likely) comes along with having a high n count, and the type of personality that leads to a woman having a high n count.

That isn't to say all women with a high n count always have a bunch of baggage. And that isn't to say women with a comparatively low n count cannot have a bunch of baggage.

A "high" n count is also a relative term here.

Everybody knows how easy it is for any remotely decent looking woman to get laid so a high count is interpreted as her being easy/ having no standards.

Everybody also knows how much effort it can take for any remotely decent looking man to get laid so a high count suggests he must have a lot going for him.

Why lie? Someone who's asking me something like that sounds too immature off the cuff for me to even be interested in. It's never come up in any of my relationships. We go get tested for STDs before we have sex, and beyond that, whatever past they've had can stay there. People in this forum act like it's such a fountain of information, but the reality is that it correlates to almost nothing.

In the very rare case that friends are sitting around talking about it, I don't know anyone who's ever kept count. It's not how you process information that you don't give a shit about.
