No one should lie on dating apps. There's literally no excuse for men or women. People choose their dating parameters and it's not right to take that from them.

Absolutely not. Would you want to continue seeing a guy you found out lied about his age? Hell no. What else would he be capable of lying about. It’s a huge red flag.

Starting out by lying isn’t wise. That’s making a first impression as someone who’s dishonest and deceptive. I can’t imagine a man who values honesty would entertain the idea fo a woman who’s lied right off the bat.

"White lies" are a form of saying "I didn't think you would like me as I am so I made myself into what I think you would like and I thought that you wouldn't care once you got to know me better."

A healthy relationship is not built upon a foundation of "I didn't think you were going to to take me as I am and I figured it wouldn't matter once you got to know me better."

Let's take that apart. "It wouldn't matter once you got to know me better." is a function of one thinking this aspect of them is inadequate and they must make up for it. It also insinuates they think they know the other person. It also insinuates that they think this other person is so shallow that they can't handle the truth.

If someone can't handle the truth, then congratulations, you've just filtered out an unsuitable mate.

This sort of lying seems innocuous to many but it is the ultimate covert contract behavior red flag. Don't expect to be treated with any kind of respect for engaging in this behavior, and don't put up with it yourself.

If their search criteria aren’t returning good matches then they’ll have have to expand their criteria. If their search criteria are returning good matches and you’re outside of the criteria then you’re wasting your time.

A lot of women tend to think men care about their age. We do and we don't, but not for the reasons you think.

Men tend to go for younger women because finding a single, never married, moderately attractive, height and weight proportionate women with no kids in her 30s is basically a unicorn - she doesn't exist. Go on any online dating site and set the age for over 30 and you'll see what I mean.

Furthe, since a lot of women value stability/financial security in their men, those same men can't land the aforementioned women when they are in their 20s.

Lastly, assuming a man wants kids, he is going to be forced to do so fairly quickly if he meets a women in her 30s.

Other than that, your age is immaterial. If you are a desirable dating prospect, quality men will flock to you regardless of your age.

Imagine if he still says no after all that. Then even if she tells him first up, she still wasted his time by making him read her profile, put mental effort into deciding if he liked her or not, and then by messaging her. That's a lot of inconvenience.

If the man wanted to meet new people, not date, they'd set looser age criteria and the woman wouldn't have to lie anyway.

I'm not sure if you're asking for yourself, or hypothetically, or for someone else, because the post is in the third person. So you're already being deceptive to us by not stating YOUR stake in the game. Why do you feel the need to hide behind a facade? Why aren't you honest about what you are, what problems you're facing and why you want this specific deceptive solution?

If you tell us your problem we could brainstorm about other solutions that don't involve lying. You've created this false dichotomy where the only options are 1) lie about your age, or 2) never meet men. No!!! Those are never your only options!

The guys who put 30 as their age but in the description say 'i'm actually 45 I can't change it' is really crummy. You don't want the kind of men who would filter you out anyway, for anything long-lasting you should be honest.
