Billy Beta on the other hand has a high chance of getting used as a meal ticket and getting ghosted on afterwards. So obviously he is far more wary about paying for a meal and getting nothing out of it.

I think it’s pretty normal to eat at the campus cafeteria with someone you are or might be into. I would often try to get girls a bit off campus though for coffee or something. A big reason is that I wanted to get to know them one on one without the risk of my or her entire friend group deciding to join us. I don’t understand why people want really elaborate first dates though. What if someone or both people want to bail?

Yeah, same. I just go for walks or take them to a couple of my favorite spots with a good view. Sometimes we split but like geez, getting a 2 dollars worth of beer for someone isn't such a big deal. (Not from the US).

I don't go to meals because I don't feel like sitting across the table from someone for an hour.
