So I just stumbled upon this concept. I am a 35 year old woman, married. We have a big blended family.
I work and go to school but I was happiest when I was a stay at home mom and housewife. Unfortunately financial obligations dictate that is no longer possible. So I've focused on my career and now I'm in school and I feel like I don't see my family hardly ever. My husband is still working from home, and my work went back on June 1st. My commute is an hour one way.
I've found since I've been working I've been progressively losing respect for my husband. It's not that he's done anything wrong and in fact he's done nothing but improve himself since we got together. Working out, becoming a better father, stepping up and taking care of the kids and the household since I started school.
Now we are stuck this way, in this lifestyle, because money and time dictate that I have to finish school and get a better job, which will put me in a position making significantly more than he does. Conversely, they eradicated his department at his old job and the only new job he was able to find was as a temp, he has very little hope of furthering his career. He still makes more than me now but that's going to change once I graduate. His field is dying, and he's unable to do anything about it. We barely see each other. And I miss being a traditional wife so bad it hurts. But he can't make enough money on his own to support us, and I can't stop where I'm at because our financial burdens keep growing as the kids get older, cars break down, and house upgrades are needed.
I've been working progressively on showing him more respect since I realized that I had somehow lost respect for him and was treating him horribly. I still very much love him and he has done nothing but work hard to earn my respect and I've been so demoralizing towards him, despite all of his efforts. I've listened to the proper care and feeding of husbands and I see a lot of that in myself (although I've never been a nagger and he picks up after himself better than I do). I do often defer to his preferences and his wants and let him make most of the actual decisions, but I'm a jerk to him sometimes also. I never, ever withhold sex from him though.
I am better with technology so I handle it all, the bulk of our future career, our finances, everything is left up to me. I didn't mind handling the finances when I was a housewife and stay at home mother, but now that I'm doing it all I just feel like I "wear the pants" so to speak. But I don't want to put that on him as he is already handling all of his responsibilities and the bulk of mine. Money has never been an argument we've had because neither of us are very materialistic and neither of us care much about it other than making sure our bills are paid. Also, with him working from home and me not, we are on different schedules because he doesn't have to get up nearly as early as I do.
Also, the majority of resources I find for respecting your husband are religious, and we are definitely not. Apparently that makes us a minority?
So I guess I'm posting all this to say, what are your thoughts? Is it even possible for me to be a red pill wife? What are some ways I can show my husband respect more?
