Intro

While on reddit for leisure, I was on TumblrInAction. Came across this post in which they laugh at a fat idiot for thinking men don't get body policed.

Body: This idiot, a women commented how unfair it is that men aren't shamed for their weight. It's only innocent wom*n who must live with such ridicule. The thread is full of examples of men being shamed to their faces for being skinny not athletic or powerful.

Here are some cherry picked examples to reinforce my point

It's such a common thing that it's the basic trope found all over comics & TV; the nerdy smart kid who happens to be bad at sports suddenly transforms into an athlete or gains super-powers and can kick his bully's ass and win respect of his unrequited love interest. Being big is seen as commanding, powerful, and desirable, and women absolutely reinforce this notion.

Captain America anyone?

As chubby girl dating a very skinny guy, I've had people call him "string bean", "thinmint", tell me I need to teach him "how to eat". It's awful, like because he is thin and a guy people can berate him to his face.

('chubby' ok hun, that's why your username is a dessert food.) People shame men to their faces. They show the man's gf they don't respect him at all due to his appearance.

Not once has a man lambasted me for my size... . I was bullied all through school, by girls, for 'being anorexic'. Then when I grew up, there was just more of the same... I don't mind jokes, because while sometimes they can sting, my weight is just a personal hangup for me. Unfortunately it's rarely a joke ...

cut out the fat on this one. Another example of women having no respect for skinny guys

I am 6'0 male and I weigh 115lbs. I get skinny - shamed all the fucking time. I wish I weighed more and it's something I'm working on but I just don't put on weight despite what I eat. If I don't constantly eat a lot, I just lose whatever weight I've managed to gain. My friends, my coworkers, and my family always make comments about it and it's driving me crazy. "You're so skinny I can lift you with my finger!" "You ONLY weigh 115lbs?! I weighed that when I was in grade school!" "Your arms are like twigs!" "You do eat right?" This is something I've been very insecure about my entire life and it seems like it's never ending!

Don't be this guy weight gain is 100% possible for any healthy person.

They wasn't a single post that disagreed with these comments.(ie., they aren't cherry picked amount a field of dissent)
