It's not because the women refuse the available men at that point; it's because men are afraid of commitment.

As I've been saying for about seven years now, it is not because men do not want to commit when they're 30, 35. It's not because the natural partners of a 32 year old former carouseler (men age 30 to 45) fear marriage. It's because:

1) They do not want to marry HER because she doesn't offer enough and comes with more baggage than an airport unclaimed freight room. They're not "afraid of marriage". They're scared shitless of marrying HER; and

2) SHE doesn't want to marry THEM because she has rendered herself unable to be sexually attracted to any of them.

3) The men she is attracted to will not offer commitment to anyone, much less to her, because they (a) are very attractive and have multiple options; or (b) went through a divorce and won't do it again.

(And, guys, hell, even 1) doesn't apply all that much. Because a guy who wants to get married by that time is so goddamn thirsty he'll take just about any oasis he can find, including a former carouseler. I know this because carouselers are still getting married - they're just settling way, way deep on sexual attraction and they hate it and they're divorce raping these guys and it's just shitty.)

Conservatives and tradcons have a huge, huge blind spot here. Because they cannot face the truth: Carouseling ratchets up a woman's taste for alpha. Each subsequent man has to be more attractive, more alpha, "better" than the one before. When Faith Moore talks about "men" in that last graf, she's talking about these guys. She's talking about the very, very few remaining sexually attractive men in that age cohort. That's because - and remember this, guys - women do not "see" any "men" other than attractive men. To women, "men" means "attractive men", "men I want sex and marriage with". This is the apex fallacy in action - the notion that what applies to the apex people in a group applies to the entirety of that group. What the apex people in a group do is what ALL the people in that group do. That the options available to the apex people in a group are available to ALL the people in that group. And it's just not true, for reasons we have discussed at length here.

All Moore can see is that these attractive men aren't offering commitment. Moore reasons that they MUST be afraid and fearful. It has to be because they are fearful, bashful, immature little boys enshrouded in attractive men's bodies. It has to be because they are selfish and self centered, and are just spitefully refusing commitment to these "experienced" women out of hate and mean-spiritedness. But it isn't true, not by a longshot.

women's inability to marry men they're sexually attracted to after carouseling for the better part of a decade or more is not about 30 to 50 year old men being afraid to commit. It is about (1) those men not wanting to commit to her and (2) her inability to be attracted to, and unwillingness to accept, any of the men left over who are willing to offer commitment. I've always said that Entourage was Sex And The City for guys: a fantasy about a close group of guys having the time of their lives, in a cool city, boning different women every episode. I loved Entourage. But here's the difference: most guys know that it's a fantasy. While there may be a few guys living that life in LA (it was based on Mark Wahlberg's early years in Hollywood), the vast, vast majority of guys, even ones in Hollywood, don't live that life.

That's why you don't see whiny blogposts by men saying how Entourage ruined their lives. And why there are no "Entourage Tours" in LA where you can simulate the experience of being Vince or Turtle, like there are "SATC Tours" in NYC. Guys are expected to live in reality, and we face consequences pretty quickly if we step off into fantasyland.

Even as a guy with no interest in the show, when I've seen isolated episodes of SATC, even I could spot the holes in how they portrayed the characters' lives. If an entire generation of young women thought of SATC as essentially a documentary, they have no one to blame but themselves.
