The combined effect of cold water and the multiple lacerations from glass shards led to Karapetyan's hospitalization for 45 days, as he developed pneumonia and sepsis. Subsequent lung complications prevented Karapetyan from continuing his sports career.

Love songs and Hollywood movies combined with our biology have conditioned us to turn off your brains for the womenfolk. But men are smart: we’re creative, innovative, playful, systematic.
So it just takes a bit of turning on the brain back on. It doesn’t even require social skills, just basic analytical thought. Look at a woman as an opaque system with transparent inputs and outputs. What are you putting in? What are you getting out?
Hint: the kidney is not the organ you should be putting in her.
Men spend so much time trying to read women’s minds and intentions, which just leads to misunderstanding, projection, and giving away body parts to broads who give fewer than zero shits about you.
But it doesn’t have to be that way. There is no feminine mystique or mystery when it comes to behavior. Behavior is, by definition, completely objective, completely visible, completely transparent, completely real.
Simply seeing women as systems, basing your judgements on their actual (not assumed/intended) behavior, without anger or rancor, without love or hate, can prevent and even solve a lot of problems.

Thank god someone else sees how evil this man is. I dreamed that I was one of the last survivors from that bus crash 44 years ago. I was appalled that he rescued others before me when it was obvious how my anxiety level was at an all time high. To add insult to injury I distinctly felt him aggressively brush past me SEVERAL TIMES almost touching my vagina, you can imagine how uncomfortable this made me. I am not looking for compensation except maybe to cover lawyers fees and therapy sessions and maybe a bit for my pain and suffering and travelling and food expenses and essential oil supplies and wine for me and my cats. Lest we forget, heroism is a male behavior. Female will risk their lives for children (usually their own), but never for another adult.

I think society has made many substantial improvements in shaming these SJW’s and their ultra feminist agenda. Now people from all walks of life, from all sides of the political spectrum and even some women have become aware of this radical anti-male agenda and have voiced their disgust with it. Certainly not how these feminist planned for it to play out for sure. It’s great to see society take a stand against cancerous radical 3rd wave feminism and even the “feminist allies” are seeing how tyrannical these feminist views are and are moving forward from it.

Trapped air.
[–]Jackoffalltrades891 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You don't have to evacuate all of the air in a vessel for it to sink, just enough that the aggregate density is greater than water's. It's very common for air pockets to get trapped in corners of a ship or car, letting people breathe for that much longer. Not that it's exactly comfortable either way. Imagine finding a pocket of air in a pitch black compartment of a ship and having to tread water to keep breathing, with each breath sucking oxygen out of the air and slowly poisoning it. Three men "survived" in a compartment of the USS West Virginia for 16 days after it was sunk during the attack on Pearl Harbor. Unfortunately, they died after running out of breathable air since it was impossible to open the compartment without flooding it or blowing it up thanks to all the oil and gas in the water.

[–]WhisCreamSandwich-5 points-4 points-3 points 6 years ago* (9 children) | Copy Link
In what way(s) is any of this considered toxic masculinity?
Toxic Masculinity for reference.
EDIT: Ah, so this subreddit just downvotes and does not engage in reasonable discussion. I see.
[–]lead_me2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
I'll bite. From your link:
Popular and media discussions in the 2010s have used the term to refer to traditional and stereotypical norms of masculinity and manhood. According to the sociologist Michael Flood, these include "expectations that boys and men must be active, aggressive, tough, daring, and dominant"
3/5 of those characteristics were on display here.
And, for certain, feminists could argue that this mans prior athletic achievements, feats of competition and strength which enabled him to perform the rescue, indicated aggressiveness and dominance.
I eagerly await your goalpost shift.
[–]WhisCreamSandwich0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link
I just think it's a dude who saved some people, nothing more nothing less. Happened to be in the right place at the right time. I don't see any of those things in this story. Where is there any expectation? He jumped in on his own accord? In what way, whatsoever was this guy's behavior toxic to society or women, because that's the most important part of the definition of toxic masculinity. It's fucking toxic. There are zero ways in which this event was toxic to society or women. I'm sure if he knew he'd be injured afterwards, he'd still do it 100 out of 100 times, because it's about being a good fucking person.
[–]lead_me1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Where is there any expectation?
Didnt you read your own link? Its inherent to the culture he lived in... that we live in. You're pretty bad at this sociology stuff. If he wasnt expected to embody those traits, he would be a nonbinary gender studies professor or something.
There are zero ways in which this event was toxic to society or women
Hence why people on this sub think the concept is a joke. Because it's used as a strange behavioral pejorative and has lost meaning.
I'm sure if he knew he'd be injured afterwards, he'd still do it 100 out of 100 times, because it's about being a good fucking person
Debatable. If you knew youd die, and would fail to save anyone, would you do it? He knew that he could save people through the expectedly masculine traits he possessed and had cultivated.
As I already indicated... the toxic masculine traits which led him to build his physical strength and have the confidence to put his life at risk were those which led him to be active, agressive, and dominant .
You're playing dumb and backpedaling hard. This is probably the last sub you should expect for people to not see through your bullshit, though.
[–]WhisCreamSandwich0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

[–]lead_me1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, sure. Sorry I wont be foisting the idea of basic masculine traits being "toxic" onto my son, and instead will strive to guide him to be like the guy in this story.

[–]lead_me1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
It's a shame that the qualities he demonstrated are called "toxic" by the very article you linked.
I wonder where calling anyone you disagree with "incel" falls in the paradigm of "toxic" masculine behavior.
"You cant get laid, bro... haha!"
