Summary: Here's the best cure to approach anxiety. Your task is to get rejected. A lot. As outrageously as possible. Keep doing this until you have learned to love the hilarity of rejection and stopped fearing it.
Body: I am not sure where I first found about this method, it's possible that it was somewhere on The Red Pill. I did not come up with it, but it is the best I've ever seen. Basically, there's a problem when it comes to beating approach anxiety by approaching. See, it's easy for me to say that you should be outcome-independent, and you shouldn't care about girls' reactions, and it's easy for some dudes with game to say that, too. But let's face it: you are here because you want to get laid. You want to cure your approach anxiety by approaching, and your goal is to eventually succeed. This makes it super hard to be natural, and it makes it extremely scary. You can't be outcome-independent if the whole reason you're doing this in the first place is to get laid.
Let's make it fun. From now on, your goal is to get rejected. And I don't mean just get rejected, I mean get rejected in the most outlandish way possible. You want to fail.
Here's an example: You walk up to a girl, and you start the conversation the only way someone with poor social skills knows how: "Excuse me, what time is it?"
Now she looks at her phone, and she tells you what time it is, and you say thank you. And then instead of leaving or ending the conversation, you say, "by the way, you've got a pair of really nice tits, you wanna go out sometime?"
How she reacts depends on the girl, but I can guarantee two things: 1) it'll almost certainly be a rejection even if she finds it funny, and 2) it will be extremely hilarious.
Now I don't mean "kind of hilarious", I mean it'll be extremely hilarious. I mean, the only real possibilities are that she responds angrily, (totally hilarious), she responds awkwardly / tries to laugh it off, (totally cringey and hilarious), or the cringe ends up being at your expense (this is probably the most hilarious one. The old you would have remembered this event just before falling asleep every night from today until the day you die. But the new you, after this game? Shit, man, it'll happen so often, you'll finally understand how hilarious it is.)
Some rules to get you started:
You can never say the same thing twice. Very quickly you'll find efficient ways to get rejected, for instance you can guarantee an almost 100% failure rate by asking the right question, and that's good (I guarantee you the guy in that video will not be scared of approaching girls ever again for the rest of his life), but that's easy mode. Don't just ask them all to have sex and laugh when it's over. Ask them new things. Tell them you want to go out because you've never fucked anyone with "x feature here" before. Tell them you need to date them because they have an amazing shirt. Find the most ridiculous feature, and use that. By the way, you know why that video has 20,000,000 views? Because it's fucking hilarious. That's your new life: you're going to be laughing your ass off all the time, because this shit is fucking hilarious.
If for one second you think what you say might actually work, don't say it. Your goal is to get rejected. If you secretly believe that you're doing something that has a chance of working, the whole effect will be lost.
Embrace the cringe! If you are a new guy here, chances are you are not going to be able to pull this off in a way that people watching would think "ha ha, that guy's such a boss, he doesn't give a fuck." You are going to be funny at your own expense, it's going to be funny because you'll stutter and you'll mess it up. It'll take a while for your delivery to be perfect, but trust me, when you get good -- shit, when you get good, it's gloriously hilarious.
Do this a lot. None of that "well, I'll try one girl today, and maybe another tomorrow" bullshit. If you know where to look, you can run into at least 20 girls every day, there is no excuse for only talking to one per day. A lot of people excuse approaching once per day because they're expecting success, so it's emotionally stressful. This is not emotionally stressful, it's fun, so do it. A lot. I'm not saying you can actually do 20 per day, but if you have free time to do this on a specific day, there's no reason you shouldn't do 10 that day.
Find a friend, and compete. This is possibly the best thing you can do. If you compete with your friend how many rejections you can both get, you will enjoy this even more. I have done this with trying to get a girl's number, instead of competing how many numbers we could get, we competed over who could get rejected the most. I won, but surprise surprise, both of us ended up with some numbers that day. The additional beauty of doing it with a friend is that you have someone to share the laughter with, which makes it so much more funny. You also get in an endless loop of "I have 6 and he has 7? shit I only need two more to win, I'll just do two more", and then he does more, and you do more, and you both suddenly find yourself with 20 rejections and a smile on your faces.
Keep doing this, and one day (especially after you've used up all the really cheesy ones), you'll find that the game gets a lot harder. You've already told a bunch of girls you want to have sex with them, maybe this time you'll just say they're attractive, etc.
The more you run out of outrageous things to say, the harder the game becomes. Seriously. At first you will be able to play this game with a 100% win rate, but soon enough you will find that it's actually become difficult. You've become so natural at talking to girls, and you come up with such creative funny shit to say, that you accidentally charm some of them. Seriously. It's fucking stupid that it works, but it works.
Lessons Learned:
It's impossible to fear something you've experienced a thousand times. It's impossible to fear a reaction you're expecting. It's impossible to fear a reaction you want to see. It's impossible to fear a reaction you find funny. It's impossible to fear the opinion of a girl once you've realized how stupid the whole process is.
A person who doesn't fear acts natural. You can spend as much time as you want trying to pretend that approaching is natural and you're not scared of getting rejected, but that's much less successful than actually becoming fearless. It's also harder. The effects of ~100 purposeful rejections are insane. You have no idea how good you're going to get at saying stupid shit to people and not caring how they react.
Rejection is fun. They not rejecting you, they're rejecting the stupid shit you said. You know this when you do it on purpose, but it takes a long time to understand if you do it by accident.
At one point, after doing this a lot, your success rate will go down. It's a real shame, but someone who is really socially comfortable is going to be bad at this game. I'm not saying they'll have a 0% success rate, but I'm saying they'll actually have a hard time maintaining a 90% success rate without repeating the same lines, even if they really try.
tl;dr: start trying to get rejected, find it funny, do it with a friend. one day you'll notice you got bad at getting rejected, when compared to how you used to be.
