The wage gap is only a thing if you drop out of the workforce to have kids. I've seen women who don't have kids make plenty of money. It's all in their own control

Speaking as a small business owner, this is 1000% correct.

I would hire men, women, foreigners, Americans or robots if it would save me a nickel.

The only wide-spread discrimination in wages is against people who can't negotiate.

I asked my old high school friend and physicist this once and he responded with, "To maintain a facade of equality..." His thought process was if they just hired women and underpaid them, everyone would notice the women were being underpaid. I gave up on the discussion shortly thereafter.
