Probably not. This is a common error when estimating the frequency of noteworthy behavior. Because behavior stands out as unusual, it stands out in the brain more, and then is assumed to be commonplace, when actually it is just unusual (i.e. rare).

Now, I'm sure a lot more girls are doing this now than they were before social media, obviously. But iirc, studies on college age drinking tend to show that the percentage of non-drinking students is much higher than the students themselves estimate. Because everyone who drinks only hangs out with other drinkers, so they assume all students are like themselves, and because drinking is so conspicuous that all the non-drinkers (who may tend to be less social) notice it and assume it's widespread.

In both cases, probably way more college students drink and girls show racy images/videos online than is healthy, but I would bet that it is not "most" in either case. More people are pretty boring and risk averse than a lot of people seem to believe.

But I could be wrong.

In my eyes, it’s no different to wearing nice clothes out in public, or posting the new model car you bought. You’re flexing on the gram - for all intents and purposes it’s the same shit.
