What’s your opinion on people who leave their partner for another person?

It's kind of a bitchy thing to do but realistically what are they supposed to do? Stay with the person they're not as attracted to just to be nice and spare feelings? Make up an excuse to dump someone and wait a few months to date the other person?

Its sucks bad for the person being left but that's just life unfortunately. What's wrong is when the person leaving "soft cheats" so to speak and by that I mean slight flirting, heavy vetting, and basically making sure the next guy/girl is good to go before leaving.

What is the alternative? Forcing them to me in a relationship they don't want? And if so.... are we then forcing them to have sex with that person too?

Someone wants to leave, they should leave. End of story.

Of course there might repercussions, some financial some material but not financial; and some purely non-material. It happens, fix the consequences and move on.

I think in order for that to happen, you'd had to have your feelings flourish for the other person and nurtured the relationship and this I would judge, yes. I make an exception for domestic violence victims who are not able to get out without help. But other than that you can absolutely control falling for someone else and it is your responsibility to stomp out the beginning flame. And you need to be honest with your partner about it. Everyone has harmless crushes on other people but when you see that your crush can destroy your relationship, you intervene beforehand. There are thousand little steps that have been taken before it even comes to the point where one would leave the relationship. It's everyone's responsibility in a relationship to not take these thousand little steps.

Depends on the variables. Wyh did they leave their partner? Were they an abusive piece of shit? Did they get diagnosed with terminal cancer? Or did they just like the new guy/girl more?

Unfortunate truth is that if someone leaves a relationship and jumps straight into another, then in all likelihood something was going with the new person before they left the relationship. Whether it be emotional or physical cheating.

Remember that the grass is not always greener so I think they should try and make the preexisting relationship work first. Ie communicate any issues or dissatisfaction you may have. Therefore the other person in the relationship atleast has a chance to put the effort in to change things if need be. However if you're still unhappy after this then it's important that you're honest with your partner when you do break up and stress that it's not personal.

In cases where the relationship just isn't working and it can't be fixed. Ie the other partner isn't listening. Practically it doesn't work. There's abuse involved ect ect then I think it's not so much a case of leaving someone for someone else but more the case of just leaving.

There's no consensus, it's an individual thing.

People can break up whenever they want for any reason they want, any time they want.

From the middle to the first coffee date to leaving them standing at the altar.

You never have to justify it or explain it if you don't want to. You never have to speak to that person again.
