Move out and end it. He’s controlling you, which is clearly his intention because he sought out a woman over a decade younger than him. And he’s using his cheating “trauma” as justification - that’s very manipulative. This isn’t something you can fix. A good man will support your dreams and goals.

You will regret it if you let this man hold you back. Don’t allow him to ruin your life.

This isn't a red flag it's a red fucking billboard. Please please please get out of this realtionship ASAP. There is a lot to unpack here, but if this much older man controls all the finances and wants to tie you down with kids even though you openly expressed your wish to be more independent, he is NOT the man for you. His behaviour is insecure and predatory and you shouldn't try to prove your loyalty to him. Don't let him ruin you and your future.

First of all....I highly doubt this ex who just happened to go to university (where you go, conveniently enough) existed as she is portrayed. He’s using this past trauma to shape your behavior and control you.

Please look for employment and move out as soon as you can. Being completely financially dependent on this man after just a year is seriously limiting your opportunity to build a good life for yourself.
