Dating before engagement shouldn’t last longer than 3 years if you’re in your 20s and 2 years (at the most) in your 30s. Also engagement should be 1 year or less if you’ve already lived together (2 years if you haven’t) unless there’s extenuating circumstances and venue/date should be picked out within the first couple months.

Otherwise he does NOT respect you. It’s so sad seeing what clearly seems to be the sunken cost fallacy being applied...there’s no way her friends/family didn’t give their opinions and say something.

Exceptions for people high school and college aged of course...I’m only counting the years when everyone’s brain is fully developed.

So at what point do we place blame on the woman for staying so long without a wedding? He didn’t stall the relationship all by himself.
