why would he even propose to her after 12 years of husband perks without the legal commitment? even if she does propose him there's no guarantee the wedding will actually happen, she'll just switch from "forever girlfriend" to "foverer fiancée" and he'll still lead her on.

This is why we need to raise girls from birth to have more self esteem and self respect than this. I get that not everyone wants or cares about marriage, but women should never give children to a man or act like a wife without receiving all the legal and financial benefits she is owed. I get second hand embarrassment reading about women who let themselves be disrespected to that degree for years even though it’s not entirely their fault. We have been conditioned since birth to accept any crumbs we can get.

Good lord. Dump his ass. If you can't dump his ass right away, at least double up on your birth control in the meantime. Then contact a family law attorney (just in case you live in a state where that kind of arrangement would be considered a "common law marriage").

12 years and 2 kids. Share the debt and expense of a house together. Buried his parent whose dying wish was for him to propose.

And it’s still not happening. Maybe she’ll give him another 4, 5 years tops and then she’ll be annoyed enough to maybe sort of bring it up one day if he’s not too tired/bored/horny/busy with friends.
