Every year, I get smarter, I make more money, the value of my investments increases, I learn new skills and discover whole new aspects of life to keep me going. In the last three years, I've traveled to 11 countries and gone through a huge transition at my company. In the last two years, I've learned a solid foundation for data science and programming and started building my portfolio. In the last seven months, I've learned how to cook more than 50 different dishes, almost everything I ever ordered out plus much more (mostly Asian food). My friends tell me that my food is restaurant-quality and can't wait for more. I've also refined my personal style. Next year I'll be 33 and I can't wait to learn even more about myself between now and then. Not only am I nowhere near expiring - I'm becoming even more of a prize every single day. The question is whether I'll ever find someone who deserves me. 💪🏻

I lived in China for sometime. The concept of leftover women was prominent, even in big "progressive" cities like Shanghai. Leftover women were basically women older than about 25, generally career driven, successful, and didn't abide by traditional gender roles that value men more than women. Since these women are older, successful, and unwilling to accept mediocrity, society deemed them undesirable and labeled them leftovers to shame them for rejecting expectations. Even though these may be HVW, men don't want to be with one because a wife should be young, beautiful, and subservient. Thankfully this is changing with the times, but there's still a long way to go.

The funny thing is, thanks to gender imbalance in China due to the strong preference for boys and the infamous one child policy from 1979 to 2015, there are more men than women in China. Since this is the case, it's amazing that men have the nerve to deem these HVW as undesirable, when clearly they don't have the option to be picky if they don't want to be alone forever. Calling them leftover women is obviously just a tactic to pressure women into accepting LVM.

This isn't to say all Chinese people think this way, nor is this unique to China. I've seen this concept in the US too with sayings like men age like fine wine, yet women who hit 30 are past their prime. I just found it shocking how there is an accepted name and concept for the treatment of these women in China.

Yeah! And also, just because you're into make up, stylish clothes, manis, skincare, etc. does NOT mean you're "trying to attract a man!" You can do all those things, look drop dead gorgeous inside and out, and do it all for yourself, to feel good yourself!

Wut, 25 even? :O I mean, it's probably the age at which women start to look their best. In my country the perceived "expiration date" is more like 30-35, but honestly, I'm 31 and never felt more self-confident. An average woman at such a (still) young age is probably only undesirable to LVM, because she is too experienced and they can't easily manipulate her into some LV relationship.

Honestly the age 25 confuses me because at least half of all people I know in their early 20s who are married are not in good relationships. Plus getting married often means there is pressure to have a child. I did not spend years getting an education to graduate at 22 and then have three years to have fun before being pressured into bringing a new life into the world.

Damn SK-II made a campaign like that?! Boo, and I liked their skincare stuff. I don't think I will be able to buy their stuff anymore, granted all skincare companies are banking on women feeling old to want to use their products, but still.
