I made the mistake of telling someone why I was single when discussing financial independence and early retirement. I think MGTOW allows you to reach FIRE quicker but someone told me financial independence is easier with a girlfriend.

There are many women that pay their own way. And a responsible two earner household will gain financial independence far quicker. This is a very foolish point. You can find an attractive partner who has the same hopes, dreams, and values that you do.

A woman who contributes and has moderate earning potential and is aligned with your values (this is key) is a significant asset on the road to FIRE. The math is intuitively obvious.

I don't think this makes sense.

If you are in a relationship you will spend more money than a single man. I have never seen a couple that spent less money than if they were single. I think the poster meant to say your total net worth is higher if you're in a relationship because you have double the worth but it also means you spend twice as much. It also means that my money becomes "our" money.

If you're a responsible single man who saves money you will reach financial independence quicker going MGTOW. I'm not saying you can't retire early with a girlfriend but it will take much longer. But if you say that being single is faster on the FIRE sub they will argue that being in a relationship is better for your finances just because their feelings said so.
