So I’ve seen this too. It’s a good question.

I think there’s a few factors:

Lifting does not mean you are alpha. We know that lifting is part of bettering yourself but the two are not mutually inclusive. So, maybe you see muscular guys lifting, but they fail shit tests and act like pussys underneath that muscle.

Maybe the two were dating before the guy started working out, so he looks better now, but at the time she was the best he could do.

Maybe she looked good before but as he went on his crusade to the iron temple, she decided to gain weight and give no fucks.

I honestly believe if the muscular guy lacks doctrine and just lifts to lift, he is to blame for everything. As someone already pointed out, maybe he settled for ugos because he thought she was a unicorn.

If anything these guys aren’t role models.

In my experience the trope is true: The most muscular guys are the most insecure. That's why they put so much effort in lifting. Everybody should do it, but it won't solve underlying issues if the issues are too strong.

The most muscular isn't always the highest SMV. There is a difference between looking good and being muscle bound for its own sake. Google image some male gymnasts and compare that to some ridiculous top tier bodybuilders. What looks good is broad shoulders, naturally muscled arms with a smaller waist and low bodyfat, etc. I'm not saying there aren't some good looking lifters out there, there are, but the ideal size-chasing male image among men doesn't really resonate among a lot of women.

The image of being muscle bound is often more a male fetish than a female one and different steroids or other drugs do weird things to the human body that signal sickness more than health, like give bloat most often to the gut. Even more natural stuff like HGH gives the head/face a weird shape and bloat, compare Sylvester Stallone's face 1970s early 1980s to his today. Grotesque. But enough guys actually think that shit looks good.

Anyway, physique is only part of the equation. Someone who only has physique is just as limited as a rich guy who has none; especially if neither has any game.

Just because they are muscled doesnt mean they know how to attract women. Many of them settle for the first women that likes them. Here in California lean muscled is seen as high status and bulk mode as "gansta ghetto".

Muscles =/= personality. At the end of the day, it's easier for them. In some sense, I almost understand it. Ugly women will probably bend over backwards for you whereas some 7 is going to put you through unnecessary bullshit for some subpar pussy, you gotta run the numbers at the end of the day. Well, there is the scenario where girls prefer athletic guys (lean,proportional,naturally developed muscle) over super saiyan type bodys,yes,its plausible. But in my opinion youre forgeting that : 1)lifting doesnt mean they are alpha 2)They are in the same society as you,the blue pilled fantasy where every girl is a unique jewel,beautifull despite how it looks. The society where you as a man are shamed if you pick a girl because of her looks over her "inner self" but she can ditch you anytime for Chad. They probably are not as red-pilled as you think...therefore they dont set their standards as high as they could.
