People used to take care of their own when they're unified. Families support each other, churches support their parishioners, and everyone gets along just fine. Their allegiance and effort goes towards their own, not to the government a thousand miles away.
Make society all about the individual and you gain IMMENSE institutional power. Vulnerable people can't rely on their family, instead, they rely on the state. Their allegiance isn't to their community, it's to the political machine that feeds them.
Best of all, focusing on individuals as the focus of all arguments means pretty much everything, no matter how societally harmful, is perfectly acceptable, because on a 1-1 measure pretty much everything is fine if you only consider the individual's rights. Everyone wants maximum freedom for themselves, but none for others. (i.e. in micro scale, stuff like pedo's, drugs, etc. can now be advocated as 'harmless' or written off with 'geez, let people enjoy things', but those things affect far more than the user. Asking "what effects does this policy have on families?" Yields fairly different results than "What effect does this have on a single citizen?"
With the world build around a sole person they won't have a family as often, they won't settle down and contribute anything in his life, he'll simply live for the pleasure of the eternal NOW. While things are good, he's great, but once they turn...he'll have no one to watch his back. Or to support him, and all chances of building political capital falls apart against the tide of differences and tribes. Luckily the state can step in and help out (well, not so much for a guy, but the girls get plenty)
Abolishing the family would let "responsible" teachers raise new kids in a creche, perfect for indoctrinating and creating whatever culture is most advantageous for those people at the top of the pyramid.

Well the teachers thing is already happening. I remember when gender studies wasn't a thing but now it's everywhere.I'm not sure how a society would get rid of the family unit as it's based on biology and it's human to stay with your family. But yeah taking out the church or whatever else community stuff there is would be bad. I'm not sure about the pedo's thing either, I mean if you just point at a guy and say he did something he's going to get hanged in this type of overtly feminist dream.
I don't think people would continuously just live for the eternal now. Maybe I would give the people a Ubi because in a society I think the society fails when someone feels like their life or homelessness is being risked. Never mind health concerns that's already here. I think the passionate people who ought to be the ones controlling things well more easily control as opposed to just laying about. There's a lot of people who I hear and get to know in certain fields such as art, therapy, even science and doubtlessly a bunch of others that are just there doing a minimal a minimal amount for the job. People that half-ass things I've seen in therapy, healthcare, science and art and these people really are a bother they shouldn't be around because a lot of these things are critical.
But yeah I could totally see people getting fed up with a job and just saying f*** it and staying home for a very long time when the job or role May really need them. That might cause issues if it's critical.

Boys are frequently trying new games, playing for a while, then it gets boring or challenging and they switch to a new one. In the past, you would have a small number of very challenging games that you would play for years.
People who don't care about past won't care about future. Then they are easier to influence and manipulate. They'll say: "why bother with politics, just enjoy your life". Well it matters to me because I have plans for the future, for myself and for my family. I don't want my grandchildren living in a socialist shithole.

Apart of the political point you made is mostly from the lack of time a lot of millennials have. There are some cushy jobs but many of them are really taxing. Getting my b.s. in biochem was hard as hell in a really good uni. It takes an all day all night struggle with some time on the weekends. And you know what I qualified for? 23$/hospital position or a 20$/hr lab monkey who works long hours. Either way your a robot.
Thus, they have not a lot of time do get into politics. Haha, in fact I think some even show off what they know. There's no time to take care of happiness and the type of work we have. We think boomers had it better in that dept. As their gen from 20s to 30 or so had 21% of the nation's wealth. We have 3.5.
