My LTR isn't expecting to get hitched anytime soon, but she has made it clear that it's a goal for her. I've made it clear that I have no desire whatsoever to be married. Last night we somehow landed on this topic and I held my anti-marriage stance, she brought up tax breaks, I said the breaks aren't that great, and we just eventually decided that we'd best have this discussion at a later date.

So...are there any benefits to being married? People usually only bring up 2 points for marriage. Being able to visit your SO in the hospital, and tax breaks. Well after gay marriage and all that, it's pretty easy to get your girlfriend allowed into your hospital room, so that's a non-issue now days for the most part. The tax breaks....are they actually that good? I was honestly talking out my ass when I said they weren't that great, but I can't imagine the U.S government just throws money at people just for being married.

I admit part of me has a romanticized view of marriage. But I'm also not a complete dunce and know that I don't want my financial future dependent on whether or not my SO wants to divorce rape me or not. So I'm rather Purple Pill I guess. Really, I guess I'm looking for ammo to use the next time this topic comes up. If it means the end of the relationship, so be it, just wanna know I got my facts straight before I double down on them.
