I’m currently in a drifting apart situation with one of my oldest and closest friends. It’s an incredibly difficult feeling to grapple with but it’s becoming increasingly harder to have meaningful conversations with her that extend beyond the men she’s seeing or interested in, or her new sex toys or her past BDSM experiences.

I only recently met up with her again in-person for the first time after discovering FDS and I legitimately feel like I’m speaking to someone new. In actuality, I know it’s me that’s different because I’ve worked hard to level up and shift my mindset the last 5 or so months.

I don’t really have any advice for how to help a friend level up, especially if she’s not open to listening. All I can say is that while drifting away from a friend feels awful, for me, the positive feeling I get from knowing I’m leading my best life and being authentically myself far overrides any negative aspects.

All of them. All my ex-friends are pretty hardcore libfems. None of them have had a serious relationship either. Lol I know correlation doesn't equal causation but...

Honestly, after coming into FDS within the last 7-8 months, I've noticed that a lot of my friendships are shifting. I'd call it a slow fade. I haven't directly told anyone that they're not "leveling up" or progressing like I am. I have tried to introduce 2-3 of my closest friends to FDS. One tried it for a minute before she got into a long distance relationship and the other 2 looked at it once and said it "wasn't for them". I haven't downright cut them off, blocked them, or refused to talk to them.

But I've stopped accepting hang-outs where all I do is listen to them vent about their S.O or whine about being single. I've stopped being the third wheel with a girlfriend who can't seem to hangout without bringing her S.O along. I've stopped doing hangouts eating is the only activity (#1 because I'm trying to lose these COVID pounds and #2) I don't want them to feel tempted to just vent/complain while we eat).

So the ones that remain either keep their problems to themselves and act like a real friend when we interact or they choose to stop interacting with me because they see I refuse to be in that toxic loop of dating/relationship drama with them.

i have a major pick me friend but we talk about things outside of boys thankfully. she rants about the guy she's seeing, but she knows what i would say. she just wants someone to listen, and it's not frequent so i don't mind. she will eventually learn her lesson. these things can't be taught.

i "lost" a guy friend. he was always sus, undercover white supremacist and misogynist. i blocked him after he made the atlanta shootings about him and his right to have sexual preferences. i am glad not to be associated with that.

I had nasty fight with my ex best friend. I told her that my mom was sexually assaulted as a teenager and she victim blamed her. That was the last straw and I told her I don't want to see her ever again. Pretty dramatic, but it was just one thing out of too many. I realized she isn't an ally and she was toxic. I don't have any friends in this city, but I talk to some friends online (I'm vetting them though, because I've changed, but they have similiar values as I have, so far so good). At first I was very lonely, but the feeling faded over time, and I'm okay now. The best decision I ever made.

My girlfriends always ignore me completely if I mention anything remotely within FDS values. They're really confident and secure in their pickme-ism though. So they make me feel like an alien with 5 heads.
