My wedding was the saddest day of my life, i was never a dream wedding girl but I wanted something small and beautiful with someone I truly loved. It was a destination wedding and my groom spent the entire time either drunk arguing with me or binge drinking and playing pool with his friends.

I laid in my wedding suite on the bed with my sisters 90% of the time crying and having panic attacks. They held my hand and so did my parents. I married my family on that trip in my soul not my LVM ex husband.

Weddings aren’t everything and either is finding a man. Real love is all over and life is an amazing journey with many roads 💓

I love Tracee Ellis Ross. She has said many times she is happy with being single, an aunt and loving her life the way it is on her terms. She is amazing. I wish more women followed her.

I watched this live last year. So many gems 💎. The last live event I attended before the pandemic hit. I love that both women are fearlessly independent and call the shots in their lives.

Strangely enough, though I was raised watching Disney movies and being surrounded by a marriage and motherhood centric culture, I absolutely never once played any games as a child that referenced that nor did I envision my life as an adult with any kind of husband or children in it. I encountered plenty of my own struggles regarding men, mainly via sexual harassment and assault, but I think I was spared a lot of the insecurities that other young women around me had, bc of my disinterest in romance. I wish some of my female friends in high school had been able to distance themselves from this pressure to have a boyfriend, as I saw many of them really hurt by their need for male attention and love.

Oh how I wish I had come across content like this when I was younger.

I personally never grew up dreaming of a wedding because I'm not white, so I didn't know whether to dream of a classic Western wedding or a wedding from my culture. "It would depend on the guy I marry " I'd say. It gives me major whiplash now because even in my imaginary non-wedding wedding, I was deferring to some unknown hypothetical guy 🤦🏽‍♀️
