Random memory reminding me why I divorced him

Some men just lie about the stupidest things, I don't get it. Like stuff that does not matter in the slightest.

I'm really into having a healthy lifestyle, but my ex wasn't so much and he loved drinking sodas. After a couple of months he started saying he doesn't like drinking them anymore and that they don't taste good, yet he would keep drinking them when we visited family, made a bunch of excuses that there was nothing else to drink (there was a ton to choose from, I never needed to drink a soda during a visit).

Well, whenever I'd be out for a few days, if I got back a day or two earlier, guess who had a half empty bottle of a soda next to their bed... I even asked why he's lying about it when he clearly still likes it. He'd give me some lame ass excuse about needing a new plastic bottle to take for hikes. Lol.

Just... Why? What was the point? Was I missing something? Apart from the fact he behaved like a child. 😄

My bf knows i have a meme account on a social media he does not have, and months ago I noticed i got views from a newly created account with a username that was a combination of a play on his name that is an inside joke to him, and the numbers of his birthday. I got upset because he has no reason to be jealous or skeptical of a meme page on which people dont even know im a girl. To this day he swears up and down it wasnt him and he doesnt know why that account has that username. Sounds silly but it has really hurt my trust of him that he still cant own up to it

Funny old story:

My ex was nice enough but a tiny bit spineless and hated confrontation of any sort, even a conversation about issues that needed to be addressed and corrected.

I came home from work one day (he was in between jobs so I was supporting the household. Doable, but tight) and found some new clothes and shoes laid on our bed, with tags still attached. The receipt was on the bed with the clothes, dated that day. It wasn't that much money, and he wasn't a huge shopper so one new outfit wasn't going to break us. I made an offhand comment "I saw you got a new outfit".

He says "oh no. I found those in an old tub of clothes I was digging through." Record scratch in my head

You fucking WOT MATE? I just held up the receipt and said "excuse me? You wanna start over with the truth? I wasn't even mad before you lied to my goddamn face."

We had been married just over a year and a half, and I should have just left right then and there.

I am convinced that this type of lying is a manifestation of immaturity. Anyone who thinks about it for a moment will realize you’ll be caught and what would the point be? It’s not like they’re gaining anything from these lies. It’s a 5 year old’s mentality.

They literally want praise for successes they imagine. They get mad at you for not buying into the lie, for not praising them for the story they're telling you about their imagined success, imagined thoughtfulness. Then they get angry at you for "not believing in them"...it's disgusting.
