and the likelihood one of those legitimate medical complaints would require genital cutting through the removal of the foreskin is even more rare than that.
Hell, in some hospitals not even the mother has a say unless the father watches the newborn like a hawk to prevent the doctors and nurses from circumcising their child behind their backs.
No. That would constitute assault and/or medical malpractice. It is illegal to perform an elective surgery on someone without consent (or in the case of newborns, proxy consent from the parents/caregivers). More likely is that the parents actually signed off on it when they were tired or stressed out, or they regret their decision and made up a story about the hospital doing it without consent..
Well it takes care of the fungal problems that can come from foreskin. Also uncircumcised wieners can stink
It's called basic hygiene. Seriously, washing your dick isn't hard. There is no reason to have smegma.
I can say for sure my girlfriend wouldn't wanna touch my weiner if it was uncircumcised as well.
That doesn't exactly speak highly of her.
whats the disadvantage of being circumcised?
Setting aside the whole lack of consent and the risk of medical error (both of which are serious concerns), the foreskin has 20,000 nerve endings, so you're massively reducing sexual pleasure. Perhaps unsurprisingly then, it massively increases the risk of erectile dysfunction. It is also demonstrated to cause problems with attachment for breast feeding, which itself is known to be highly beneficial to infants. And it appears to possibly cause increased pain sensitivity going forward.
There are a lot of bogus studies pushing the practice, but very little evidence for these alleged benefits. If it were true that circumcision reduces the probability of STIs, then we would expect countries where it is practiced to have reduced levels. But that is not the case. In particular, African countries where circumcision is routinely practiced show a slightly increased incidence of HIV.
This, however, is not the case for female genital mutilation, which has a negative correlation with incidence of HIV.
I’d like to see the study. Part of me wonders if HIV is more prevalent in a part of the world where circumcision is NOT the norm, thus skewing results to show circumcised men are less likely to get HIV.
