I can't stand the inherent self-righteousness of the "woke" and "intersectional" philosophy; the way they talk with an absolute arrogance. The tone is so condescending, "come with me on this journey", as if those who don't agree are unquestionably narrow-minded and wrong.

That said, with how Hollywood is, it's very possible that this is something he's being pressured or "encouraged" to say.

Just thinking. I am the first to admit people can change. Even adults can change what they like. I get what he us doing. And I am sure a lot of people have changed since superbad came out. Hell, I've not found rape jokes funny since high school. I am worried about the humor in any of his future movies now. And yet, clearly powerful men by and large choose not to. In fact, they tend to either evade the issue or, as in this case, do the opposite. Even populists like Trump, which many openly associate with MRM (falsely, of course), may grasp at opportunities to stick it to the left, including radical feminism, but has, as far as I have seen, not lifted a finger to help male victims (at least apart from Supreme Court nominees).

So why is this the case? And what is a concise, trenchant response to this ostensibly reasonable objection?

Something that I am somewhat sympathetic to, but still strongly disagree, is that Hollywood is the only place where the extremely wealthy are highly leftist and so he’s doing this for acceptance. His community, probably in a never ending fervor, remind him and everyone of their ‘problematic’ films, music, and art.

This probably is just a way to get people off his back. It’s literally just endless shaming and guilt and outrage that probably gets exhausting for the people industry who aren’t as politically aligned.

We don’t know how he actually feels, just that he has probably had immense pressure to publicly state this to be more accepted, which is sad.
