Micro aggressions.

micro...

...aggressions.

These are the people who call men fragile.

Lets go through the list:

The fact that the man says he "helps" with house chores, as if he's a guest IN HIS OWN HOUSE and doesn't share 50% of the responsibility.

I guarantee that her 50% only includes the chores she's aware of. Things like the lawn or anything mechanically complicated magically maintain themselves.

Or that, despite both of you having jobs, the man usually gives the "I'm too tired" excuse in order to avoid doing something as simple as cooking dinner (which literally takes 20 minutes).

He's probably working a lot more hours than you at a job that is significantly more stressful than selling your shitty LuLaRoe, and he'd rather just have a TV dinner than spend an hour making a mess for a meal that you'll complain about anyway.

Or, in some cases, when the man appeals to his "ignorance" in a specific domestic field and tells you "you do it better than I do, anyway."

He probably just got tired of you nagging him about not sorting the laundry according to whatever moon-logic you've made up and is trying to avoid that situation without setting you off, once again.

You do all the grocery shopping, even if that means buying products that are specifically for him (like those blue razors), yet he is incapable of buying you a box of tampons.

See above. He got tired of doing it "wrong" and is trying to find a way to not have to do it to avoid another lecture where he dies a little inside each time.

When the man actually does cook dinner and then expects your eternal gratitude and thanks in return.

He probably cooks better than you.

When you tell him he needs to help out more at home, and he gets upset, so he spends a week acting like Wonder Man just so he can go back to doing nothing shortly thereafter.

Translation: you promise to stop nagging him about doing the chores (that you're aware of) "incorrectly" and hecontinues to do those chores until you forget your promise and go right back to nit-picking everything. He gives up yet again and starts pining for the fjords.

When the man expects you to keep track of everything in his life: "Do you know where I left the car keys? / Have you seen my blue shirt? / Do you know if there's any beer at home?"

God, he asks innocuous questions to his spouse! What a loaf.

When the man assumes you are his personal therapist for all of his meltdowns, but then he either doesn't pay the slightest bit of attention to yours or plays them down with phrases like "It's not a big deal" or "Don't worry, it will be resolved in the end."

You tell him he can open up, and then are immediately disgusted by what he has to say. He shuts up, but then for some reason isn't interested in hearing about your problems (which you don't want fixed anyway, you just want to whine about them eternally)

When the man makes plans for the both of you without consulting you on your opinion, while you usually make time to ask him how he feels about doing X thing next Sunday.

this one is in direct contrast to...

When you always organize leisure activities.

Pick one. He probably just wants to do something that interests him whether or not you participate too. The arts and crafts festival you have planned is possibly the most boring waste of time he could think of, but he can't say that to your face, now can he?

And when the man assumes that you're available 100% of the time.

Sorry to interfere with your drinking schedule.

When his professional career is prioritized over your own. For example, if he gets a job abroad, it is assumed that you'll go with him, leaving behind your own career, friends, and everything else that you have in your country.

When your attraction to him is 100% dependent on his status as the subject of your bragging rights to your vapid harpy friends, his job is more important than yours. If he isn't employed and advancing, you'll be disgusted by him, ready to leave for the next guy who is.

When the man feels uncomfortable earning less than you.

Said while barely containing your revulsion at the "sacrifices" you've made and how you've "settled" for him. God, he's just so lucky you're even paying attention to him!

When the man invites you to spend time with his friends, but always turns down the invitation when you ask him to come hang out with your own friends.

Maybe because he gets to see his friends once every few months while you hang out with your friends every other day while you constantly take pot-shots at his masculinity.

Or, if the man does accept your invitation, he sulks the whole evening, just to make it clear that he didn't really want to come in the first place, making you feel uncomfortable in front of your friends.

See above. Maybe he's just not a glutton for punishment.

When you're hanging out with your mutual friends, and the group splits up into one group with all the men and one with all the women.

$10 says you only have a problem with one half of this arrangement.

When the man steals your stories or jokes and uses them as his own, sometimes even mere minutes after you told the joke in the first place.

Then you remember that he was actually there when the story happened, so it's his story too, oh and he also tells it better.

When you have to hide your merits and achievements just so that his male ego doesn't feel threatened.

When you've used your "merits" and "achievements" to brow beat him into subservience, but hate having to notice that he doesn't like it because it reminds you that you "settled."

When it's assumed that when he's sick you'll take care of him, which you'd gladly do, but when you're sick, he says he doesn't know what to do.

Because Sprite, chicken noodle soup, and tylenol is so complicated /s. You've literally spent the entire relationship telling him how his existence is superfluous to your needs, and yet you're surprised when he just lets you try to take care of yourself.

When the man feels completely free to tell you how you should wax your pubic hair.

I bet next you'll complain that he doesn't want to do oral for some reason

Or when he treats a blow job like a mandatory part of the sexual act, but when it comes time to return the favor, that will have to wait for "another day."

Called it.

When you're the one who always has to worry about not getting pregnant, even if it just involves saying "put on a condom."

Oh, no you have *actual choices, none of which decrease sensation?* The horror...

When the man assumes you're going to be thrilled at the prospect of having children simply because you're a woman.

When you assume that you get to choose when a man will have children and the government and society force him to live with and subsidize that decision.

And...when he finishes before you, and doesn't care if you haven't yet.

Man, some people are just so inconsiderate of their SO's needs and wants...

Oh, look at that. More misandry from BuzzFeed.

[–]Hadashi_blacksky 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

One day we're gonna wake up to find every member of their male staff has chopped their dicks off in protest at sexist air conditioning, or something.

[–]jackcos 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Us guys are taking a stand against manspreading! We've chopped our dick and balls off in protest and n-... oh wait, we can actually comfortably close our legs now! It's almost as if the dick and balls were what prevented us from closing our legs! Problem solved.

That’s about what I would expect as a list of grievances drawn up by a person who writes internet fluff as a career.

Her expose on ‘12 pumpkin ideas’ is overdue so she’s got no time for household chores!

[–]letsgetrandy 14 points15 points16 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Look at #7 for example.

Did you seriously just buzzfeed a buzzfeed article?

[–]jackcos 6 points7 points8 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Buzzfeed showing their colours again. I feel a list about women would be easy to write. Starting with "When the woman assumes you don't love her anymore because you turned down sex, because she wrongfully assumes from society that men always want sex"

Oh, and most of these items could be attributed to any shitty person, not just men. Beatriz is a misandrist.

[–]_pseudodragon 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

He will get the tampons but it doesn't count and she won't use them because the tampons are wrong flavor even though the tampons are same ones she used last time.

[–]bizcoachbecki 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I used to love Buzzfeed but now I can't even look at it because their painfully obvious biases make my stomach hurt.

[–]Cristi_Tanase 4 points5 points6 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The comments are wrought with women saying the most generalizing things about men, and attacking men for pointing out that they're generalizing. Yet they hate being generalized...

I couldn't finish reading it, it was pure bullshit and you know if a guy brought tampons the would be probably be the wrong ones.

[–]fengpi 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How about men paying for everything in a relationship? Is that a microaggression as well? Symbolic of women's economic subservience or some such shit like that, yes?

[–]Halafax 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

BuzzFeed is shit. Why link to their shitty website?

Starve them.

[–]ConnorGracie 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women don't help with male domestic chores ever so I don't see the big deal.

[–]Thrown1tawayzzz 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Didn't read just wanted to say that my wife prefers when I buy her lady products because for some reason she keeps accidentally buying scented ones when she does it.

Idk why but when she bleeds her brain shuts off everywhere but work.

I think I still have PTSD from their 30-something loaded questions for men video from a year back.

[–]moahnie 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It sounds like some women are so bitter that I cannot understand how they can live a happy life while complaining about things like this.

[–]jackcos 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I liked this reply by a woman in the comments about what a woman's list would look like:

Expecting him to pay all the time.

Insisting he has to be taller than her.

Expecting him to never cry.

Expecting him to be always in the mood for sex.

Expecting him to always be willing to fight on her behalf, even if she started the conflict.

Hitting or slapping him because he "won't hit a woman" back.

Calling it "babysitting" when he's taking care of his own damned kids.

Assuming the stay at home parent has to be the woman.

Expecting him to always know how and want to fix things.

[–]nihaokitty 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think these are just unfortunate things that happen in shitty relationships. My bf and I are equal partners, none of the items listed in the article apply to us. We treat each other with respect, do our own chores, and respect each other's boundaries. When we dine out, we either split the bill our take turns treating each other.

It's not ok to generalize men the way the author did in this article. She is likely projecting her pain from shitty relationships with shitty guys. I ask that you all also don't project your anger from this shitty article towards all women.
