The fact that "feminist critiques of logic" exist is, in my opinion, the single most damning fact about Feminism. A "critique of logic" is everything that is wrong about Feminism, boiled down into the purest form possible.

In the scope of my research, a feminist programming language is to be built around a non-normative paradigm that represents alternative ways of abstracting.

First sentence in and I'm already laughing.

The idea came about while discussing normative and feminist subject object theory. I realized that object oriented programmed reifies normative subject object theory.

Okay, so she can be needlessly verbose, but she can't remember to proofread?

Aside from that, I have no idea what the merits of her project are, but titling it "feminist programming" is so absurd and discrediting that I can't take it seriously.

However for people to take this seriously they must have a very warped view of programming.

I have seen the C+= parody a few days ago and apparently, however it seems to have been removed from github, as the author(s) said "Now hosted on BitBucket, as GitHub proves to be too misogynistic to support a feminist programming language.", Still can be found on gitbucket: https://bitbucket.org/FeministSoftwareFoundation/c-plus-equality

Anyway, fearing that it might be taken down again, I cloned it to my computer as this is comedy gold.

A non-normative paradigm would be something that does not reinforce normative realizations of what a programming language is. ... The ideas is that the standard, normative, concepts reinforce the values and ideologies of societies[sic] standards. ... I am asking questions about the cultural, social impact of normal programming constructs.

She's not asserting that existing coding standards and practices are sexist, but she's implying the fuck out of it. This is just the basic feminist positions of "Things produced by men are bad because they are produced by men," with a dash of "society's norms are unfair despite working for the vast majority of people."

The only reason to object to reinforcing "the values and ideologies of societies[sic] standards" is because you think those standards are wrong on some level. Never mind that they work for most people.

And when one commenter basically asks "what' the point of this" her response is absurd

It's true that you accept certain constraints when operating with in a given programming paradigm. It's also true that there are problems in computing that current "normative" paradigms
cannot solve. However, current paradigms do solve 99% of the problems we're dealing with and new paradigms are being developed to address the other 1%.

It simply does not follow that building a programming language around a political ideology is going to provide anything useful. She might as well be developing a Communist or Fascist programming language.

Crude translation of her position: Code produced by Rape Culture is Rape Code. Society rapes women just by using programs written with Rape Code. This horror must be ended.

So, I was totally prepared to laugh at this.

...except I kept reading the comments...one person linked these two studies demonstrating that gender might actually make a difference to preferred programming environment.

Ideas that seem ridiculous at first are often worth thinking about a little because they have several grains of usefulness that you haven't considered before (hence why I keep reading here, despite disagreeing with most of the fundamental RP tenants). It's possible, isn't it, that different cognitive styles gravitate towards different programming platforms...and that gender plays a role in determining one's cognitive style? If so, being aware of this would be helpful for creating programming interfaces.

Obviously, logic is logic no matter who or what you are...but programming languages are a different matter. They might be more geared towards one or the other thinking style.
