Women average 5-10 years longer lifespan than men. Basically, they’re still getting more years of pension, it’s just adjusted to be at the end of retirement instead of at the beginning.

This isn't a PPD, and let me explain why:

Prior to 1995, the legal retirement age in the UK differed between men and women. This was brought up numerous times in parliament because the number of people receiving a state pension was burdening the government pocket heavily, and research showed that men and women were able to work reasonably equally to a reasonably equal age.

So, in 1995, legislation was passed that upped the retirement age of women to bring it in line with that of men. In itself, this was a brilliant move into the modern age, however the way it was handled, publicised and implemented was very poorly executed.

Very few people who had retired in the past five years were told about the changes. More so, this change was passed very quickly. When it did change, along with the state pension age, almost all of those people lost their one and only source of income. Now, officially, the government said these people were perfectly capable of working - and indeed some were able to resume their careers. However, the majority of those people were unable to do so, and there are frightfully few employers who will even consider hiring someone who will simply retire within the next five years.

Now the government has a problem. Many women who fell into this category were women who had lost husbands in conflict, were spinsters, or who had separated or divorced from their partners, since society had changed dramatically and this was now acceptable. Many of these women lost their homes, lost the ability to feed, power, heat and clothe themselves, and records at the time showed that women's shelters had a dramatic uptick in the number of retired non-pensioners making use of their services.

The point is, these women were not planned for, nor considered, nor taken care of by the government, who bear the responsibility of doing so since their legislation has caused the problem in the first place. Some of these women have died, the lack of income cited as a result.

TL:DR

The problem is not that the pension inequality was removed, it is that the process of doing so was poorly planned and executed, and left millions penniless.

An argument could be made that in nations with paid maternity (or paternity) leave that is sponsored by govt, those who use it should have their retirement age pushed back.

I'm not sure, if I'm missing the point entirely here, but isn't this protest mainly for a "relatively" small group of women (3.8 million) that actually face real problems having their pension age raised by 5 years due to the law not giving proper time to plan ahead?

to non britbongs, you wont know that in 2012 it became EU law than insurance based premiums and pensions could not discriminate on sex.

This means both men and women cannot have cheaper car insurance based on gender so women saw their premiums rise overnight to what men pay-----they obviously complain.

the other side of that though was that pensions were traditionally paid out in higher rates to men than women because men statistically died much earlier than women, so the annual payment men got was more because over the term of receiving payments they would stop before women.---women didnt complain

so these entitled fucknugget cunts are absolutely 100% in the WRONG, demanding they should get extra 5 years when they already benefit from higher payouts because the discrepency of life expectancy.

and let that sink in for a moment men fucking DIE earlier than women, and they make no noise about that, yet will parade around expecting all women should get special extra helpings of pudding because they are women.
