I am a High School student taking a Social Justice course, the next unit is on Gender. How do i go about convincing my teacher to show The Red Pill

Point out that a complete curriculum on gender never covering male rights is not feminist enough and for shits and giggles she should show this documentary on the MRA movement so the class can see what they're up against.

Do not encourage her to watch it or you haven't a hope of it being shown.

Out of interest, why did you decide to take this subject?

I'm an old dude who went to an underfunded government school 35 years ago; we had a very basic curriculum on offer. I took all math, science and english classes - which were the prerequisites for the STEM course I went on to do at university. I wouldn't have had any time for social justice nonsense if it had been offered to me back then, and I certainly wouldn't waste time on it today.

Clearly you are approaching this from a totally different perspective to me. Can you explain your thinking a bit?

I'm surprised there is an actual course with "Social Justice" in the title. Think you would be better off getting some of your class mates to see the movie. A single person going against the teacher's statements is easy to dismiss but if a group of people are saying the same thing it is not so easy to dismiss.

Level with your teacher, be respectful. Speak to them like the educated person they are.

Explain to your teacher that a unit on gender only focusing on womens issues is only speaking about half the the issues people face. Tell your teacher that while you don't want to undermine womens issues, you also don't want this unit to ignore the issues men face in our world.

You'd have a better chance of convincing a creationist in a class teaching creationism to let her class watch a documentary about evolution, followed by watching Jesus Camp.

Cassie Jaye's first two documentaries were quite feminist-friendly. You might suggest your teacher watch those two and then they might be willing to show The Red Pill.

You will never, ever accomplish this. The unit is called women's issues, not gender issues, and a teacher who wanted to teach that course is never going to support a view that both genders face discrimination.

The best you can hope for is to be allowed to pick out 5-10 minutes of the movie show in order to demonstrate that "the patriarchy hurts men too". Honestly, wanting to show the full movie seems like a lot to ask anyway.

Just wanted to say well done for trying to get this shown. Perhaps suggest that if they won't show it , it is a say day for any notions of equality or free speech. And that if anybody there believes in feminist ideals, they shouldn't be afraid of something that considers them; if an ideal can't even stand up to the most gentle examination, what does that say about the ideal or the believer, or even the culture which silences all who question it?

Don't. Keep your head down. Take the grade. Invite your classmates to watch the film separately. No public school teacher who volunteered to teach gender studies is going to be convinced to absorb a dissenting opinion by a student, especially a male student. It's your classmates you're trying to convince. Seriously. Head down. Make an A. Move on. It's not worth it.

On the other hand, if you can convince your parents to take on this fight, that might do it, but you have to pretend they're embarrassing you and that you just want to move on.

If the teacher hasn't already dismissed you as a fascist or whatever, appeal to her "men can be feminists and feminism advocates for men too" sensibilities. Tell her you were skeptical but it brought up some interesting points that you think are worth addressing. Get her to watch it, then just hope for the best. If she watches it but dismisses it, then you keep lobbying, it'll backfire against you.
