I want to give some advice to other like the student who wants to open a 'men's center'. Since we live in a gynocentric society, there will be many structural barriers and social prejudice towards this idea. You have to expect it and prepare for it.

If you don't get permission from authorities, it is either because they are fundamentally opposed to the idea, or you don't meet certain requirements, or you're not working with the 'right' framework(feminism duh). Start an online group among your peers, have some daily posts on mens' issues and weekly debates in chatrooms. Every now and then invite others to the debates, like student body leaders, other activists, etc. Build your numbers so you have a louder voice. Define a good organizational structure for your group. If they still don't grant permission, ask for reasons and pressurize them to give permission. Don't give up.

If you have permission, but have no funding. Try keeping the meeting online as they would not involve many costs. Ask for donations, have charity events, etc. Ask for financial help from some successful alumnus.

University gender gap growing warns admissions chief - A gender gap has emerged in higher education, with girls dominating admissions to leading universities

Urgent action is needed to boost the number of boys applying to university to stop them becoming a “disadvantaged” minority, according to Mary Curnock Cook, the Ucas chief executive.

Young women are on average a third more likely to progress to higher education, Ucas statistics show. In some parts of the country, that number increases to 50 per cent.

“It means there is something like 32,000 young men missing from university.”

Ms Curnock Cook called for a "laser focus" on the issue of fewer boys going to university than girls.

She said: “My concern is in five or ten years’ time young men will be the new disadvantaged group. I remain astounded that there is not more political and societal focus on this."

The gender gap is most pronounced among pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds. Boys who live in the poorest 20 per cent of areas or who receive free school meals lag furthest behind girls in university admissions.

The figures will fuel concerns that white working class boys are under-achieving at school, with worse exam results than many other groups.

"The focus on White working class boys in the Higher Education Green Paper as part of the wider aim to widen university participation from all under-represented groups is a really important signal of change.

“But no amount of outreach by universities will work if boys are still too far behind when they come out of secondary education.”

Ugh, when we said we wanted gender equality for everyone we weren't talking about males. It's called equality for women.

I do keep wondering how we're going to approach this issue, in America you guys actually have an advantage of having your universities mainly relying on the free market and only being partially funded by the federal government and even then they're subject to constitutional law.

Over here though, this guy is rather fucked unless he is willing to fight really hard and campaign for a right to speak about men's issues at Plymouth. He would have to deal with the student unions, the faculty, the administration, the courts, the government basically everybody in every level of authority that exists in order to get anywhere.

We're making ground, even here in the U.K, but I don't think people realise just how heavily entrenched the anti-capitalist feminist ideology is in British society in particular, they're a government unto themselves even more so that U.S universities and I have very rarely seen governments directly interfere with bringing free speech and expression to U.K universities.

I feel sorry for this guy because he just doesn't have many options aside from renting out his own private space and inviting university students there, but then I bet they'll probably find some excuse to expel him or shut him down through protests and so on which will then force the police to intervene as the protesters cause violence as we've seen.

Please note the newspaper's decision to put "men's rights" in inverted commas in the headline and in the main text. And not when quoting.

This is equivalent to doing that annoying "quote" thing with your fingers when you're speaking, and want to make it clear that you believe the thing you're talking about is nonsense.

Imagine a paper always punctuated "women's rights" in the same way.

The Student Union Equal Opportunities Policy is "HIGHLY IRREGULAR AND QUITE POSSIBLY ILLEGAL"

It uses the term Gender which is not normal and fails to clarify that they mean "Sex".

The omission of the term Sex brings it into conflict with The Equality Act 2010.

UPSU shall act without discrimination in respect of: Gender, Racial Origin, Nationality, Sexual Orientation, Religious Belief, Political Belief, Disabilities, Age, Marital Status, Spent Criminal Convictions, Health, HIV and AIDS status, Language, Appearance, Class. This list is not exhaustive.

They Stupidly conflate Sex and Gender, and whilst not listing Sex as a protected Class repeatedly refer to "sexism";

All posters and publications displayed or distributed through this Union should include a fair representation of the student body. Care should be taken to avoid stereotypical, sexist, racist, ageist, heterosexist or otherwise discriminatory images or language. Positive images should be used wherever possible.

This Union recognises the role of language in the shaping and definition of attitudes and behaviour. This Union endorses the use of non-discriminatory language in all Union literature, and by both students and staff.

I wonder if they believe the words Idiots, Incompetents, Political Biggots and Nincompoops are discriminatory or just an accurate assessment of bad Student Politics run by Idiots!
