Laura Mulvey

You could raise a coupla points about the 'Male Gaze' if you're still doing the class.

Mulvey based a lot of her thesis on Lacan, who based a lot of his stuff on Freud who has been consistently debunked by actual, y'know, psychologists.
It's incredibly sexist to state that the women in the audience have no power of their own.

I'm going to a rather feminist High school, I honestly enjoy the life of a 'polemic' I'm granted for mildly stating facts that are contrary to feminism. There were multiple times in classes where some of the students started yelling at me (one instance got people calling me sexist for pointing out that "It's more complicated. For example, women make up two-thirds of college graduates."

French Revolution--Not many major players were women, but guess who we spent an entire class on? Women! And how they were secretly running everything!

So it was women chopping off the heads of men, not other men? XD That doesn't exactly help their case. There was a woman who was rather influential after the revolution because she had been a revolutionary of some note who turned on the revolutionary media and they were a bit more hesitant about using the rasoir national on their womenfolk. They still did it, and if the woman was an aristocrat that hesitation didn't count for much, but they were a bit more hesitant.

Male, studied languages. Lots of our language classes were about women, both the oral ones where we're meant to talk and learn the language, as well as the purely linguistic ones. I counted, and I can't remember the number, but i think about 3/10 classes were focused solely on women's issues and women's stuff came up in most things. there was always a segment on how women were affected. It was insane. And then there were the cultural modules. he literature ones I did were all about married woman who hated their husbands (therese raquin for example). The point is, it was INCREDIBLY BIASED. And the cultural modules were almost marxian in their vehement criticism of capitalism and the fucking pharmacopornographic society we live in and shit. fuck you judith butler.

Protip: you have no power. you're an undergrad. they don't give a shit what you think. Just regurgitate and play the game. Sadly, there is no fighting the liberal chokehold on freedom of thought.

Actually, Feminism might HAVE to come up in every class.

I live near a university and have considered taking a few classes to advance my degree. While investigating the University, I discovered that they had instituted a policy. In order for professors to get approval for a new class, they HAD to include a lecture on how class, race, and sex impacted their proposed class.

How this is important in certain Mathematics and Computer Science classes is beyond me ... but the University required it.

(And it does demonstrate just how deep the cultural rot truly goes.)

The only way to change this is to STAY, and get like-minded people to join you.

You have to infiltrate, play along, until you're ready to take over the department.

It must be done, but will take effort and coordination.

I mean - women are half the population. Sorry that you have to deal with opinions that annoy you, but isn't it better to learn and understand about other perspectives so at the very least you know how to approach it critically when you see it out in the wild?

Also - Gothic novels are famous for exploring gender dynamics. That's a huge part of their history and appeal. It's not just horror and spooks and castles.

French Revolution: One class session in an entire semester discussing what half the French population was up to while overthrowing the government hardly seems unreasonable.

University isn't the only option to take, granted, things are fairly limited, but there are options like private tuition or vocational schools and so on. Say goodbye to the university style social life though if you decide to do this.

Failing that, you have every right as a student to complain about this sort of thing. Your parents or you are paying good money to get into a university the think will get you employment.

My situation wasn't feminism but I went through a similar thing with my education where I just kept on running into incompetence after incompetence. After that, I realised I needed to take some time to re-evaluate my life and get my education back on track and I'm happy to say that I've just about done it.

You're an adult now so you can either roll over and accept what they're doing, or complain and fight for what they promised you. They might even take you seriously if you're a woman and you can help out the men there who are sick of it too, yes, I know it's incredibly sexist, but that's how these morons work.
