Actually I'm quite sure that there is a significant contingent of people, forums, YouTube channels, blogs, and entire subreddit devoted to ogling female Olympic athlete's spandex and bikini-clad asses.

The only thing unusual about this post in particular is that it is mixed into a mainstream news blog, which granted wouldn't fly if the genders were reversed but it's not like "hot Olympic chicks" is a taboo subject that nobody talks about for fear of reprisal.

I feel it's important to remind people, since there seems to be a question of why articles like this are here, that we're not trying to say we want the pearl clutching puritanical nonsense of radical feminism.

Articles like these frame the hypocrisy of the media when dealing with gendered issues.

The double standard of scolding men for appreciating women but applauding women for appreciating men, is obscene, and rightfully pointed out.

The message, succinctly, is this: If it's alright for women to be horny perverts, then it should be alright for men to be horny perverts too.

There is an article in The Independent, a national daily serious paper in the UK, that claims outrage today because a few Twitter comments were debating a female gymnast looking a bit overweight-the justification for the outrage was LITERALLY "men should not be allowed to make comments about any female athlete and to do so is disgusting". Perhaps the author should take off her feminist blinkers/blinders, then she would notice articles like the one OP has cited here.
