As a psychologist... This makes it worse for them to be defending her. If she truly was a compassionate person, and her personality didn't fit with the crime... She would be a shell of her former self. She would be so devastated that she allowed herself to be manipulated, and used in this way, that she would undoubtedly be troubled.

The fact that she seems normal, means that she most likely enjoyed it, and at the very least, doesn't feel any remorse for doing it.

And these cases are just the tip of the iceberg. Because a disturbing amount of people think that women don't do shit like that.

Unlucky for her she isn't good looking. If she were, she had a very high chance to get of the hook and get her boyfriend in trouble instead..

Her defense lawyer is trying to paint her in a better light in hopes of a better trial or sentencing outcome? How shocking.
In actuality, the article is useful for pointing out the obviousness of female privilege in media/courtrooms.

What is up for debate, Wightman said, is whether Koon should be considered a violent sexual offender.

There probably wouldn't be a "debate" on whether or not a man is a violent sexual offender, if he did the same thing, assuming a man would even be able to work at a day care for a significant period of time.
