Just to add to this, I think it's shit like this that creates professional victims. You start telling a teenage girl that she is a victim and she will live her life that way, as a victim, and everyone else is the oppressor.

I wouldn't have told her to quit the club... but instead, discussed everything they told her and show her why it isn't true or it is misleading and such. basically, let her hear what they have to say and then show her the facts so she can see for herself that they are misleading at best and malicious liars at worst. by having her leave the club she may just stumble on to another like it later and not realize its the same thing, and you may or may not be there to give her guidance then.

Tell her to stay in the club and try to draw any parallels to how men are sexualized. Boy bands, firefighters, military, etc etc. Guide her thinking to seek out how both genders sexualize each other and objectify each other. Its an equal system, it only becomes unequal when one side demands it be exempt from the rules of the game while still playing that game.

You actually have an in, not only to teach her critical thinking, but to also instill critical thinking in her peers, and isn't that what raising children is all about?

I hope you explained to your daughter why a club like this is bad, and didn't simply ban her for being part of it.

She probably should know why the professional victim mindset is so harmful. How they search for anything to be offended by - if a woman in a movie is killed it's anti-woman, if a woman is a bad guy it's anti-woman, if there aren't enough women it's anti-woman, if there is a nearly perfect female hero character but she has a flaw they don't like it's anti-woman... while of course never making any complaints about male character deaths or male villains.

When she knows how the professional victims clubs who just whine about everything they encounter work, she won't want to be part of it. But if she just thinks her mean parents are banning her from hanging out with friends she'll want to be there even more.

Not that it's my place to tell you how to parent of course, just sharing my opinion.

Making young women aware of the way they are objectified in modern media, and encouraging them to resist objectifying themselves sounds like exactly the kind of thing MRAs and TRPs would want. I don't understand what you would have a problem with this.

Besides - the boy scouts are a club. Does that mean boys are weak?

This may be a good thing. The current situation is often that indoctrination begins in university, i.e. as soon as parental influence is out of the way and students straight out of school can be subjected to a complete package that will screw them up for life. Doing it in school might protect them against future attacks by mind invaders.

Don't see anything wrong with someone wanting to help or hang out with there own gender. The phrases girls-night-out, guys-night-out, wingman all come to mind. The club you describe does sound like an attempt to preach a specific agenda to impressionable youth.

I can see the point of a club for girls to help other girls. It doesn't appear that that is what this club does. I have no problem if a bunch of girls want to get together and say tutor other girls or raise money to help other girls or help other girls fix up a car or a house. That doesn't make them victims. It looks like you think the purpose of the group is to spread radical feminist beliefs, that is probably correct and if so it is not a group of girls helping girls. If the club is run by a public school then it should be open to all members of the school.

There is nothing wrong with this. If she feels she has something to learn from the club, and there is nothing wrong with the information they're providing, than I don't see an issue with her joining such a club. And if they're talking about the sexualisation of girls in media (and there are plenty of examples of this), perhaps it will also help keep her chaste.
