I noted this a couple of years ago - there were two or three chapters that had recently gone to bat against shared parenting in a few different states, a couple of years later someone asked me to source that and it was really hard to find and the only one still up was michigan ... This isn't a new thing at NOW.

Feminists love to whine about how unfair the role of motherhood is to women.

But the fact that they fight tooth and nail to maintain that "oppression" shows they actually realize that status confers on women a great deal of power that they might lose if female parents were thought of as no different than male parents.

Go Paul Elam! People like to bash him for every little shit and I wouldn't even be surprised if there were some people on this subreddit right now that would like to shoot him in the head, but the fact of the matter is is that he works harder than any other anti-feminist that I've seen in getting the word out for men's rights.

Why don't we pose this question to twox/feminism whatever reddit are on here and ask people if they support NOW, with ideals / actions or financially, and if this realization that they are scam artists who actively ensure their "ideas of equality" never come to fruition (to maintain the gravy train) changes anything in how they support.

Would be good if even foaming-mouth feminists were to take a pledge to ask NOW about this.

Exactly right. If AVfM's tactics have pressured an organization like NOW into not just reversing but actively denying a position they have held for decades, that validates those tactics pretty undeniably.

Just to generally collect data although the original of this archive is still available. I had made the archive because in a moment of cosmic kismet and irony, I was researching a post along the same lines as the AVfM article that was published.

I made a couple other archives as well, as I was doing so for every link I was using, but they're not showing up in my history.

I wouldn't put it past them, but this reads a little too tin-foil hat to me...

EDIT: To those downvoting -- I'm not saying that NOW didn't do this, but isn't it worth being a little skeptical from time to time? NOW is an enormous institution with a lot of power. It seems strange to me that they would find AVFM, which most feminists consider a "fringe hate group", to be such a credible threat. I want to see the proof that they removed the information in response to AVFM's article on them.

I absolutely support the MRM, but the way these articles are written make us look like a bunch of assholes. Is it not enough to gain idealogical victories without calling on us kick people while they're down? It's shit like this that loses us support from the mainstream. It all sounds so fucking petulant.

It's fine to be assertive and to fight for your rights. But isn't there some honour in holding ourselves to a higher standard and not going full buzzfeed? I'd rather we were Martin than Malcolm.
