Feel for you man. Same thing happened to me years ago when the ex-wife was hiding how unhappy she was for the sake of my feelings and our kids. Women are damn good at hiding their pain. Doesn’t mean she cheated. If she wasn’t the type of person to do that then don’t let people put that bullshit in your head. I had the same feelings and thoughts as you.

File soon, take care of yourself and be with your friends/fam, and let her go in peace.

File for divorce right now and let her go. Also, at 5 years she doesn’t have to say what she does and doesn’t want, she doesn’t qualify for any of that shit to begin with 😂 Outside of spousal support which the state MIGHT require unless she waives it, yall haven’t been married long enough for alimony or retirement and you haven’t no kids.

I’m telling you right now, fucking file this week. Don’t be a goof troop and try to make her stay, she’s giving you an easy out right now.

Pay the money for an attorney as well.

Hurry and get paperwork signed and filed while she is agreeable to just walk away. She is lovestruck by her side piece and you can use that to your advantage if you act quickly enough.

Transition your brain fast. Become hard and calculated and get the divorce done!! Hopefully you have what she said she doesn’t want in writing. Every state has a DIY divorce. File first and it wouldn’t hurt to talk to a lawyer and have them there in cause you need them quick. Be nice to her all along the way.

When it’s all done, shut her out completely! Then you can open your brain and heart and grieve for your loss.

I honestly feel for guys that are blindsided. I hated my ex wife and when she said she was leaving, I asked to make sure that the door is locked on her way out

AD military, the OP, should file himself and put all that stuff into the proposed decree, and tell her to sign it as agreed. It’s golden! I am sure there are legal resources on base or nearby. He should ask his commanding officer.

OMG this is my ex wife. Someone who began our marriage with love and asked for grace and building and appreciation in the beginning who just decided one day that she wanted to reorganize our relationship to be a codependent taker and slowly moved in that direction. "I didn't sign up for this" and "That sounds like a you-problem."

Sorry to say as a person in the armed forces, there are laws that apply to you that don't apply generally. Be cautious!

If she signs the papers indicating she doesn't get any of that, you're good. Won't come back to haunt you at retirement if you make sure to specifically address that in the paperwork. As far as the house, if she's not on the title, you're good. If she is, you're going to need to get that redone.
