Silver bullet’d…got 50/50 of young child. Everything split 50/50. Married 10 years had almost 2M net worth. Yeah a lot sucked (like being unable to see my kid and having to go through lawyers to see him and living in a hotel for 6 months and just dealing with BS for a long time and I spent 100k plus and she spent that plus some. Wasteful, bitter, and foolish. She doesn’t want to grow up and move on. Anyways..here we are about 23 months later from getting the call from law enforcement for ‘a civil matter’. Anyone gone through divorce appeals in MN? I was awarded alimony for 5 years to get back on my feet and make my budget meet, and ex appealing it. She makes 2.5x salary, well into 6 figures. Of course she’s going scorched earth and hired an appeals specialist ~$700/hr!! as her divorce lawyer was a hot mess and financial expert messed up during trial. She had since gone to the mediation required by appeals court and offered an insulting settlement 10% of amount over 5 yrs first then approx 2/3 amount owed . I countered twice and they said no. So we are going to appeals a 3 judge panel. I’m down to burn money just to win in court vs her twice and have a sizable war chest since she bought me out of the home and owes me monthly during the proceeding. Also know I am playing with fire. Any good stories or lessons learned?
