When I was married, as father, I was pretty good at it. Not the greatest but I did a lot for my kids.

I was really the only one interacting with them every day and night. I took them everywhere with me. I’ve even taken them with me to get a hair cuts. I can’t even count how many times I’ve taken them to the park or someplace fun all the time. My ex wife can’t on 1 hand count how many times she’s taken them to the park. She’s never even taken them to the store alone.

Over 10 years I’ve done pretty good with them. And the absolute greatest feeling in the world is watching them eat. It warms my heart to see that I can provide for them.

But….

Since I’ve been a single dad for 9 months…it’s not the same. I don’t feel the fatherly joy in it anymore. And it’s sucks because I never thought me being a husband ever affected my great ability to be a dad.

The first time we had dinner at my place with my kids…..I felt nothing. I slack around and never take them to the park anymore. I just…have them.

And I’m starting to think that her having them full time is going to be best for them. Because they aren’t getting the best dad that they need.
