Hello all- can use some thoughts....
90% of the divorce has been amicable. However, it's the last 10% that is causing the most time and cost with lawyers. Of course, it's the alimony amount. So, by saying 10% left is a misnomer, as it's a very big chunk left. We went to mediation and everything else is decided.

I can either continue to fight this alimony amount or I can cave. The issue with continue to fight it is my debt on the credit card keeps going up with lawyer fees.

Just some more info: we live in Georgia. She wants 2250 monthly and I want to give 1300. I could agree to 1600 but have not heard back from her and I don't expect her to agree. So this could end up in front of a judge. I currently have one CC with about 16k on it. Probably 10k in lawyer fees and the rest was house repairs to get it ready for sale. Also, she will be getting 1400 for the child support on our one kid under 18 (kid is 16 years old).

My take as of now is I'm going to keep fighting the amount. 2250 is way too much IMO. The lawyer fee sucks but it would pale in comparison to an amount of alimony for 5 years. My lawyer has said if I can get her to agree to a number it would end the stalemate and it would become final. The problem is it's not easy to talk about this with her and I've had to go through the attorneys.

Any thoughts? Thanks all.
