Hi. It’s been 14 months since the judge finalized our divorce. She supposed to move out after 90 days since I cashed her out in the asset division. We have a 13 year old and a 7 year old daughters. We didn’t cheat on each other and the divorce was uncontested. We did file taxes this year me as a HOH , her as a single each claiming one child. Our finances r separate now but we both still take great care of our children . Our kids know that we r not married and they r fine with it. She was the one to ask for a divorce but I initiated the process. We have been cohabitating and it’s working out. We r even having more sex compared to when we were married. She offered to be married again but I refused. However, I have agreed to just have a relationship as long as we keep it simple bcs I will not go through divorce process and put myself at risk. I’m aware of my state laws regarding common law practice and it doesn’t exist in our state. I also have double checked with the lawyer who took care of my paperwork regarding that we r still living together etc. the lawyer stated that we are in a relationship and common law doesn’t exist here and keep things simple if it’s working out. Obviously she regrets signing and finalizing everything but I did tell her that if we do this, there’s no going back. Anyone out there has cohabitated with ur x? What’s going through ur head? To be honest, dating is terrible out there nowadays. I’m 43 now. I don’t even have the energy for that. But now since our finances r separate, we’re not fighting or arguing etc. according to the lawyer and our state laws, asset division is final in our state after the 30 days and when the judge signs but anyone of us file a change in the kids situation, I don’t remember the exact term . But we’re not after one another for anything, I know I’m not and she could’ve destroyed me but chose not to. My family does not agree with what’s happening but they don’t understand. I don’t listen to them and keep it simple. I’m not sure why I sometimes have certain feelings of being at risk knowing how everything works. I can tell u that I won’t be fooled and dragged into marriage anymore and I’m happy to have a relationship with her or perhaps a different partner if this doesn’t work out one day.
