I wanted to share my experience dating after 14 years of being partnered and married, no kids.

I’m a fairly fit and active guy, reasonably successful and living in a vibrant and dynamic urban centre (Downtown Toronto Canada).

I had reasonable success in the dating world, and hooked up with a couple of women since separation in June of last year.

For the record I’m a monogamous man, and I dated both separately, which is my preference, I don’t like dating multiple women if we’re seeing each other more than once.

I was very honest from the start about my situation and they were receptive at the start but as we enjoyed more time together, in both instances they wanted more of my time.

While it was a good boost to my self esteem to be found attractive and I connected with two really awesome women, it became clear to me that I wasn’t ready to reciprocate the emotional connection that was asked of me.

I made the decision to get off of the dating apps and simply focus on myself and what I call the 5 Fs, in no particular order:

-Finances -Friends -Family -Fitness -Future

I also decided to never use dating apps again and instead will let things happen organically, if I meet someone and we click in the real world then let it be, my focus and attention is on my life.

I’m definitely not lonely, I’m starting to enjoy being alone and getting shit done on my own terms, and finally after a period of feeling stuck in limbo I feel like I’m regaining my control over my life again.

My only advice to you Gents reading this is to stay true to yourself and don’t lose sight of what’s important to you.

Take the time you need to get comfortable with yourself and your life on your own again, don’t worry about meeting women, they’re out there and more single and thirsty than ever!
