TLDR- i really like this girl and we had great sex. She ended it nicely and ripped the band aid off because logistics were difficult. Should i reach out after a couple weeks of no contact/what did i miss here that I can learn from?

Backstory: I met up with this girl I went to K-12th grade with 20 years later; knew her at school but not really in the same crowd. She was also divorced with 2 kids, lives 40 minutes away now. We had a really great couple months of “kinda seeing each other”/ hooking up— then she called me her boyfriend for another really fun 6 months. Sex is incredible, shes a hustler, financially self-sufficient… owns a home, super funny and we had a deep connection. Really a catch. There wasnt all that much pressure on it, we would spend all 3 days, every other weekend together when we didnt have our kids.

I met her kids and spent some overnights there last month; i have 2 girls - she has 2 boys and they are quite a handful and lets just say she has a different parenting style. I wasnt trying to be dad but i probably rolled my eyes or something… she said that she felt judged one time i recall. She ended our relationship about two weeks ago, in such a polite and non-toxic way, but it seems sudden also?

The jist of what she said is “i love you deeply, the sex is great… but our lives cant really intertwine more since you live 40 mins away, your kids go to X school, I live here and my kids go to Y school. Nothing is changing that. The logistics are too hard to figure out, so why not just rip the band aid off before it gets harder….” I handled that like the mature person i have come to be after divorce and was like “ok, that sucks. I wish you felt like continuing. I love you a lot- always will and I wish you the best.” She said i’d love our relationship to work out in whatever way that it actually can— see you sometimes and have sex. I said of course, let me know when youre available etc.

Then shes been no contact for two weeks, essentially since that conversation. What am i missing here? Is she just in need of someone who can come take over the burden of parenthood with her ? A Provider and she should be putting her energy into that? And its clear that i am not going to be that ever, since i have my own kids 16/30 days and need to be in a location near where they live? Is she expecting me to text her first and see if I do ? Did she sugarcoat this breakup and didnt like how it looked when i was around her and her kids and its a classic discard situation?

It was the nicest breakup, which was cool and i genuinely believe everything she says— she is very straightforward and communicative. Theres just no “thing” that went wrong or changed. So i dont know why this went from a really great relationship— dating/friends/fwb/someone to just have fun with once in awhile— whatever relationship we’ve had… to absolutely nothing in the course of 2 weeks. In reality, it was more like— 2 days. One day it was fun bliss, then a couple days later she very thoughtfully decided we should end it.

I very much want to just reach out and stay in touch and actually be friends if thats what she wants. I also am not sure why we couldnt just step back and maybe not do the whole brady bunch thing yet. She was the one who expressed not wanting to date anymore for a valid reason so, i am defaulting to: if she wants to hear from me, she will reach out. She asked for space, in a way, so space I should give? I donno…. I really do like her a lot. Also, the sex was mind-blowing, i undersold it above. I realize now I should have used a burner.

Any advice/thoughts/what would you do/perspective is good.
