Women only marry men with equivalent or higher social status.

So if she's making $100k you need to be making at least $100k.

Now you're a couple with a combined income of $200k, lifes great. You move in, get married and knock her up.

When the baby is born she unilaterally decides that she needs to give up her job to raise the child.

But now your lifestyle costs $200k plus to manage with a new child.

And you can't magically get a >100% raise.

So now you're forced to get a second job. All of a sudden she's complaining that you don't spend time with her like you used to. You're always away from home working.

All of this to justify her serving you divorce papers making you her wage slave for the rest of your life.

My ex is a self-admitted workaholic, and bailed so she could continue to run our home rental business on her own. She doesn't have a lot of clarity in her thought processes, and failed to bone up on community property laws prior to her decision to leave. Long story short: the business is being liquidated, will not be able to be rebuilt under new zoning laws, and she lost everything. She's currently selling everything off, including one of our rentals that she's been living in for coming up on a year now, and has to buy another house with what remains of her half of our retirement nest egg... because she foolishly thought that by giving me our house, I wouldn't come after my share of our little enterprise.

It's not that much different than being left for another man, except I can't exact some satisfaction by confronting him. So, I'll have to settle for reveling in the schadenfreude I enjoy while watching her plans turn to thin shit in her hands.
