Getting Served Divorce Papers

I honestly can't help with this as we did it all through mediation, no serving of papers. My concern is you said first divorce, and I would hate to hear someone had more than one. Don't make the same mistake again. Sounds like no kids involved? So that's for the best. Good luck brother

You can but why? And if she knows where you work she will just have you served there.

If it’s an uncontested divorce then why hide from it?

The court will need to have a good address for you so that it knows that you received due process which includes notice of proceedings and entry of orders and the decree.

Are you using a mediator or going to court/trial? Either way, it feels like you'll have to make your address public sooner or later because the legal documents will require it. I'm in Cali and that's how it works here and I'm assuming it's pretty much the same everywhere, but I could be wrong.

You can have her email you the documents and then you can sign and notarize a “acceptance of service.”

Does she know where you work? If so the process server will come there and serve you in front of your coworkers. Is being served a part of the process in your area? If so, you could just get it over with, or you could serve her. There seems to be some good advice on this sub saying serving her is beneficial. Good luck to you. Stay strong

See if your state allows for a joinder. Basically let’s you join the case without being served…tells courts your also “full send “

In my state, you don't need to be served in the traditional sense. Georgia uses a form called "Acknowledgement of Service" that both parties sign and notarized that says formal process is waived.

BUT there's a part that asks for a mailing address "should further notice be required for any reason". Guess it doesn't have to be your new address though.

If its uncontested, you can file jointly, you don't even need to get served
