I 46m have reached the home stretch with divorcing my 48F wife of 18 years. We have three kids (15,12,10) and I want 50/50 custody so I had to do this right.

My lawyers filed the separation petition with the courts on Friday and I’ll be ready to serve her in 2 weeks.

In the meantime, I’m preparing a rental house without her knowledge with the help of my parents. My goal is to move into a house and be ready for 50/50 custody right away.

I have no clue how my wife will take it. She suffers from an undiagnosed mental disorder. Not enough to where I can justify full custody, but bad enough that I can no longer put up with it.

I’ll come out of the divorce financially ahead even with child support and alimony. My wife had no financial sense and spends money faster than I can make it.

I’ve been planning this since July and have been seeing a therapist since September to make sure this is what I want and to ensure I’m mentally ready. I cut out alcohol, revamped my diet and been eating a clean diet, re-established a consistent workout routine, and started journaling and meditation I feel re-invigorated physically.

I have worked with my therapist on how to handle things with my children. I’m preparing what to say to them and have been using Chat GPT to practice the conversation and to improve my responses to questions.

I think I have everything covered. My resolve is strong. I’m at peace with everything and I’m ready to pull the trigger in the next couple of weeks.
