I'm 45. Every since I was a little kid, I've loved U2. I've always said that if there really is an afterlife, I'll know I made it to the good one if I hear Where The Streets Have No Name when I get there. That's the song I want played at my funeral. The problem is that I had some extra tickets to see them.back in 1997 when I was 19. I sold one to a female friend of mine who bought an extra one for one of her friends. That friend is the entire reason why I'm on this sub. The first song at our wedding was All I Want Is You. I spent our entire marriage following that song. We spent 20 years traveling to see them every chance we could. I spent the past couple of years being totally unable to listen to anything they played because of the association with her.

I saw something about them tonight so I thought I'd try listening to them again. That was the first time I could do that in years. Her memory wasn't enough to ruin that for me anymore. I can think of the times hearing this amazing sound when I was a kid. I can think of being a 19 year old kid seeing one of their favorite bands playing the songs they loved. I can remember taking our son to see them. I can remember listening to them during a really bad night and the way the room lit up from the sun rising just as the song hit its peak.

As much as she ruined so many things for me, those things are starting to fade. She can't take those things away. Instead of crying because of how far things have fallen, I'm crying because of how good the music is. Its like I'm finally reunited with an old friend.

Hang in there brothers. I know how hard it can be. I know it felt to want to end my life because I'd lost the woman I'd swore I'd love forever. You can pull through this and your life can be good again.
