Literally three weeks ago my wife and I were sitting in a marriage counseling session in which she stated, "I don't want to get a divorce because that won't solve our problems; it will just create a whole new set of problems". That was a Wednesday. Apparently, the very next Saturday she met with an attorney. Fast forward to the next Friday, right before taking our daughters out of town for a soccer tournament, she tells me "I want a divorce. I'm filing on Monday". That was 2 weeks ago. She had retained counsel (that was paid for by a wealthy family member of hers, and who will cover any/all legal expenses moving forward). I got served last Monday. I've been so shell-shocked that I can barely think straight. On top of that, November and December are the most demanding months at my job (all the holidays crunch my deadlines). Oh, and the brakes went out on my vehicle last week and I didn't get it back until this past Saturday. I've had a couple of consultations, but the problem is that I have zero idea how to come up with the money for the retainer. I don't have it. One of our kids was in the hospital a few months ago and most of our savings went towards paying for that (as well as the on-going medical expenses we've had since then, plus, the $2,400 it cost to fix my vehicle). I feel hopeless.

***EDIT***
And I am feeling so incredibly anxious because the clock is ticking away on needing to respond to my wife's Complaint.
