Looking down the barrel of divorce, already sleep in separate beds, all our interactions are strictly business or passive aggressive jabs. We're both so tired, angry and alone, the only reason I feel we are still together is the recent passing of a parent plus the holidays.

Anyways none of that matters, we bought a home in 2018 then eloped and got married in Greece later that year (come to think of it, I wonder if that will play a role in any of this, our marriage certificate is Greek?) We would be married for five years September 2023, we have no kids, just the property. It seems she is not able to get this process started, she only threatens me that she is going to get a divorce, so I think it is up to me to file.

I don't want her debt and I don't want to give her mine. All I want is to sell the home and split the profit or for her to pay me my equity. Our savings are meager and we don't have any other assets to fight over, we both have decent jobs and make around the same amount of money. We both come from (relatively) well off and well respected families (big fish small pond), I don't think anyone wants this to get too public or nasty.

Maybe I am naive, but can this be done without WWIII? I feel like an attorney is necessary just to navigate the legal parameters, but can we share one? I just want some advice from some veterans.
