He says..."Lyndie has refused to become fully self-supporting for almost 10 years."

I know what she means... it's hard to get by on $40k a month!

If at all possible got to make sure spousal support is only modifiable down and has an end date.

[–]Lenten_Sausage 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

40k a month? How dare he leave her with such a starvation budget!

[–]PreviousFuel89801 points 3 years ago* [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

She deserves it because without her he would have never been a world famous sax person! /s

[–]Mynewadventures 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Clarinet. He doesn't play the saxophone.

These fools never learn

[–]PreviousFuel89801 points 3 years ago* [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

It was his 2nd marriage too

[–]stent00 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Didn’t listen...

[–]Sea-Shallot 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Smh that’s why I don’t believe we can successfully prevent most men from getting married. Most are fools and deserve to get burned. Unfortunately many can only learn through getting burned multiple times and even that may not be enough

[–]tryinreddit 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

What is the lesson? Don't get married and don't have children?

[–]Sea-Shallot 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Don’t allow the state to dictate what happen to your money or freedom (I.e don’t get married).

Men can’t keep getting married and crying when it goes sour especially when the stats are out there and knowing what u stand to lose

[–]tryinreddit 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Ok but I'm trying to understand what you mean by these fools never learn. You're advising men not to marry. Are you advising men to avoid having children as well? Is your advice to have children but not marry? Do you have children?

[–]Sea-Shallot 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I’m not advising anything. If you choose to marry as a man knowing the risks expect no sympathy when you get burned.

[–]AudreyTooTwo 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

knowing the risks

Exactly. IF you know the risks. Most don't. There should be more education before you're allowed to get married. Do you really think some 22-year old who's madly in love is thinking, "Gee, I'd like to enter into a contract with the government that could potentially ruin my life"?

[–]Sea-Shallot 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Isn’t the onus on them to do the research before signing the contract in question

[–]tryinreddit -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Why are you dodging these questions? You're the one who brought up the topic.

[–]Sea-Shallot 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Men shouldn’t compromise their freedom by marriage in America. If they choose to do this in America, you deserve all the pain that may come your way.

There are plenty other countries people can move to if they really want a wife and children.

If you choose to play stupid games (marriage in the west ) you deserve to get stupid prizes

[–]upvotersfortruth 14 points15 points16 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Did he have sax with another woman?

[–]jmoincali 8 points9 points10 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Makes my blood boil to see this happen. How many more women would single and childless if men knew the risks of getting married??

[–]Happy-N-Healthy777 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

The information is out the bag.

At this point I don’t feel bad anymore.🤷‍♂️

[–]Spodee5 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

The article mentions he is ordered to a pay a life support policy too???? Whats that?

[–]AudreyTooTwo 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I haven't read the article yet. But I've heard of this in other cases. Men are sometimes ordered to get life insurance policies on themselves so alimony is paid even if they die.

Here's what's even crazier. A few years ago, there was a case in Canada. At his divorce, a man was ordered to pay his ex-wife $1000 a month for 40 months (something like that). He paid the first month. But then the woman died. The man figured he was off-the-hook and stopped paying. But the woman's estate sued him for the remaining $39,000. He argued that the money was for "support" and dead people obviously don't need support. But he lost and was ordered to keep paying.

Okay, this was Canada. But I used to joke that a man's financial obligations exist 1) during the marriage, 2) after the marriage, 3) after he is dead, and 4) and after SHE is dead. It never ends. Hell, why not order alimony for 150 years?

[–]Spodee5 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I know a guy who had one of those life insurance policies ordered on him and it was ordered until 72 years of age. At 72 the ex sued him and got it extended for as long as he is alive. He had lots of medical problems was in and out of the hospital. He had a few cardiac arrests through those hospital stays.....somehow not sure if he didn't pay and the insurance came back and said we can't insure you because of your health or if they just dropped it because of his health.....his ex came back and motioned for contempt against because he hadn't kept up the policy......court found him in contempt but there was no action they could take against him. His alimony was paid and no one would take a life insurance policy out on him because of his health.

I've never heard it termed life support policy as this article does.
