My X and I have six kids together. Around Covid she dramatically changed personalities and decided she wanted to separate. I didn’t want too, tried to get her to go to counseling which she did only one session of before telling me she wanted a divorce. Don’t get me wrong, I was and am far from perfect. But I truly loved her. We both drug our feet during the divorce process and finally in July we finalized everything.

So she got full custody - bc she weaponized DHS and the courts by filing a VPO with some false claims about me abusing my kids. It was all proven to be false and the vpo was dropped by the court but DHS found the claims substantial and ordered me to therapy. My DHS interview for the situation was only 30 minutes long, aside from that I had no interaction with them. (A whole nother rant for another time - I hate DHS) So bc of that the judge gave custody to her. I have since finished the mandated therapy and I’m preparing to go back to court for joint custody. I don’t want to take the kids from their mom, but I want my rights as their father.

So here’s the deal I’m ranting about… in the divorce decree she is to have all the kids which puts me paying full support. But.. she doesn’t have a place where all the kids can live with her. Only my 2 youngest are with her. The other 4 are with me full time. I spoke to the child support attorney and she said it could be amended out of court if my ex agrees. I want to avoid paying my attorney even more money. When I brought this up to her she said she didn’t want to talk about it and refused to listen to me. Oh, we had an extension to file taxes this year bc of the whole divorce process and in our decree she can only claim 3 of the 6 but I just found out she filed as sole dependent and claimed all the kids. So I have no idea if there’s any recourse there.

She’s getting a lot of really bad advice from her now boyfriend - who has to go to jail on weekend a month, btw. Yeah a real winner.

Meanwhile I just want a peaceful co-existence with her and my kids in a safe and secure environment.

Why does it have to be like this???
